End for Unsworth?

Has to be the end for the whole academy and youth set up. Stop prioritising winning the youth cups, stop loaning to teams who are in turmoil and get everyone playing the same as the first team so literally anyone can step in that first team and know what’s going on. You know, act like the successful clubs do maybe?

Might sound daft but to develop the players we have to teach about ball retention and movement to give the ball carrier more than one choice of pass. Seems we are playing to win regardless which does not actually aid development. Might give them a win at all costs mindset but once the step up is needed they realise that attitude does not actually make you a better player. We need to calm them down and develop football skills rather than winning mentality. Winning mentality will come naturally at a later stage when your football skills get you the step up.

Having been overlooked for the temp position despite winning trophies he must surely realize it's time to move on if he wants a proper career as a football manager.

I would think he never imagined he would get the gig again nor do I think he would have even wanted it.

I have argued this so many times and got called out as he's won the U23's league a few times.

The academy is there for one function only, to produce players for the first team. They are not there to win trophies (as nice as that is) they are there to develop top level players and that isnt happening.

Looking at that Liverpool team, I personally can only see Elliott making it but they will get stupid money for loads of others from other PL/Championship teams due to their footballing education, similar to what Man U done under Fergie.

We would be lucky to get £2-3mill for ours, one cant get a look in at Reading, one's been bombed by Derby and one has been laughed at by effing Hamilton. The lad who went to Belgium looks vanaramma league at best and the others are all big strong lads who lack quality. The only one who looks to have anything about him is Gordon.

The whole set up needs binng and starting again. The best/cheapest long term thing to do would be to try and recruit some top quality coaches and youth scouts.

Unsworth’s job is to make players ready for the first team and he is failing miserably.

Doesn’t matter if you’re winning the league when you’ve got senior players, like Niassé, scoring goals for the U-23 team.

Time to consider his position, too. We need connectivity throughout all levels of the club.

Unsworth’s problem is the weird need to play the likes of Charsley, who will never make it as they are like 23.

But you also have to remember, as a club starved of success, we’re in no position to start playing kids in the cup.

Liverpool’s priority is to win the league and the champions league, if they win the Domestic cups on their way then happy days, if not it’s experience for the kids.

every single person on here would be fuming if we played a gang of kids in the cup, and then went out. Liverpool’s hunger to win the FA/League cup is far less than ours as they have other higher priorities. If we push on in 10 years, maybe we can have that conversation then.

Really? Because we didn’t look like we have a flying one yesterday.

Liverpool have a set way of playing throughout the club. We have a total disconnect between the first and, no direct path way into it and u23s and a top blue in charge who seems to think winning youth leagues means more than developing players.
What's brands doing???

This club is rotten from the top to the bottom, we are carrying to many passengers , coaches that are bringing nobody through, scouts that are not finding the talent that is out there, first team is as bad for that, you would have more patience than i have to list players at the club who have no future or offer nothing from the likes of sandro, Besic,Bolasie, Cucu ect. further down Pennington Dowell, Charsley,Connolly there must be at least twenty odd if you really thought about it, that's before you get to the no hopers currently around the first team.
The fact that those at the top have left these players drain the soul and finances of the club says a lot about their abilities and ambitions as well.
There needs to be a ruthless cull of these Directors coaches and hangers on, if they offer nothing towards the long term aim of improving the first team they have no place at this club.
The whole mindset of this club is wrong and has been for decades we don't breed winners and its clearly seen in comparison to that lot across the park.
All to cosy at Everton , i stopped going regular a few seasons back because i was fed up watching also rans, without any spirit and let's face it we have watched some rubbish in the past, but at least they had a bit of fight about them , i haven't seen anything to entice me back or think things have changed .
Stick by what i have said for years we will win nothing while Kenwright and co are around the club
Feel sorry for are fans they are the only thing worth the name Everton at the moment.

Liverpool’s first team play 4-3-3

Liverpool’s U23’s play 4-3-3

Liverpool’s U18’s play 4-3-3

The first thing we need to do is have Carlo and Marcel translate a preferred formation and style of play from first team to the bottom. That way we’ll produce players for each position we need and we’ll be able to more easily swap managers if necessary.

There is some absolute crap written in this thread about David Unsworth as though he has the authority to place reserve players in the first team, he never has had and never will have such power. The failure for the progression of young players must rest firmly with whoever is our manager at that time. It is undoubtedly true that the 'send out on loan principle' is a failure, can anyone say why Luke Garbutt remains on our books, if he can't be sold release him. If a player at Liverpool hasn't made the grade at a far earlier time than us they either get sold or shown the door, ruthless but effective as it allows for a continuous stream of talent without bottlenecks caused by our present system. Our loanees 'get experience' under many different systems without ever specialising in one as they do in the Liverpool model.
After what transpired yesterday I've run up the flag of surrender over my only male heir, my grandson Luke whose father is a dye in the wool red. I have battled hard and long for him to be a blue but yesterday made me wonder why the hell I bother supporting this club when all that happens is let down after let down. I've had over 65 years of disappointment culminating in yesterday's debacle. My family as a child were all reds, I got lampooned when Spurs hammered us 10 - 4 but I was a blue and stuck with my team. I've met many great blues socially, Dixie, Alex Young, Roy Vernon, Labby et seq, not one of those guys would believe yesterday's events and nor do I, enough is enough the barrel has been scraped through nothing the club says or does will hold water. I can't inflict our constant failure on to my grandson I don't have that right. My heart goes out to all the young blues who will get unmerciful stick at school just because of their allegiance to EFC, from one old blue to all you kids we are not worth supporting or playing for so take your support elsewhere and skip the indignities I've had to face over the years because the club is no longer worth it.
