I wonder what happened to the pilot?

Seems a bit weird they found the player and not the pilot..

Were the doors open? Did the pilot bail out...?

I’m not seeing much information on what actually happened with the crash recovery, no one thinks it odd the pilot wasn’t in the plane?? I’d of thought they’d have been found together..

Seems people are more interested in the dodgy footy agent and the money.

I don’t think the plane was recovered intact. The section of the plane that still contained Sala’s body was found, and obviously he was pulled from it, but I think the inference is that other parts of the plane, and evidently the pilot, had drifted outside the search area.

Yes and no. We may think that money is awash in football but you don't know what state the accounts are in at Cardiff. They could be in precarious situation financially and when you buy a player for a club record (esp. a young one) you are at least expecting to be able to sell him on for the same amount or a profit. If the insurance company don't pay up are you going to label them disgusting to? At the end of the day you have to expect the club to fight for its sake too, if it happened here, as sad as it is, Everton has to come first in the list of priorities.

A would like them all to get round a table and try and compromise, that might be Cardiff paying 5 million, the agents pay up 5 million (as they are the ones who arranged his travel), a bit of insurance thrown in and Nantes make a contribution by reducing the amount they expect. Then all 3 clubs have shouldered some responsibility and hopefully lessons have been learnt so that in future the buying and selling clubs and the agents all have a responsibility for the welfare of the player.

Last paragraph is a nice thought TBC but just not realistic, it really will come down to legalities.

Why should Nantes take a hit in all this?? they have already agreed a percentage of the sale to his previous club.

I know it is contentious. But like I said, they could have made it more of their duty to ensure the player movements were safe and secure. Ideally you would like to think they would have a better contact list of pilots/planes in that area. Yes you would be 100% right saying that once the contract has been signed it shouldn't be their problem, but this is a 1 in 100,000,000 event and I would like to think all parties could see it as such. So call it a good will gesture, from what I read they don't have to pay nearly 2 million in agents fees, so knock that off the 15 million, Cardiff pay 5 million, agents pay 5 million and insurance covers the rest. This won't happen of course, it is just crazy to think it would, but it would be a nice solution to ensure everyone has taken a hit. While I'm talking crazy it would also be nice if Cardiff continued to pay part of his salary for a year to his family that were probably expecting to be looked after by Sala. They can at least clear what needs to be and prepare for life without that kind of money.

I would think it would be the buying clubs responsibility for travel and arrangements, not the selling club.

At the end of the day, Cardiff have done a deal to sign a player and confirmed the transfer, he is the responsibilty of Cardiff not Nantes.

“Wasn’t their player”

The scruffy melts, hope they liquidate.

Cardiff are one disgusting, vile little club. They used that poor lads death to create a drama and made a disgusting spectacle out of it that bordered on a circus and even made money out of it all. They had people in the streets around the ground weeping crocodile tears as they sent the manager to the lads funeral as though they gave a dam. They made pious speeches and sang songs saying how the lad would "always be one of them", all the while seeaking a way to get out of paying the agreed fee. Utterly despicable little club, hope they properly suffer after they get relegated this season and eventually go under.
