Genuine question.
I use twitter all the time. I used to love it, you could kinda self curate info on what ever you're interested in. Sure, it's a echo chamber but not much different to buying your paper of choice back in the day.
Over the last year, I noticed a huge change in the algorithm. Now, after a derby, I'd get hit with tonnes of RS content presumably because I clicked on a good few Everton V Liverpool tweets. Eventually it was the same with everyone we played. I don't care what Wolves twitter is on about.
And it started happening in politics. Just Lauren Boebert and MTG tweets, puke.
And that was before Musk bought it.
I'm not opposed to paying for a service I use a lot but I don't want to help him out.

So the million dollar question, Has anyone got any good alternatives? What's Bluesky?
I still have a FB account but that's primarily to keep in touch with old friends and family from home.
I never really took to insta.
I mainly use Instagram. Never really took to Twitter. My insta feed is the same though after we’ve played a team.
Also for some reason the algorithm seems to think I’m a right wing edge lord from Florida given the amount of Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson vids I get suggested to watch. Occasionally it starts giving me golf clips as well.

Yeah, it's gotten really bad.

I originally got on Twitter because it had up to the minute sports- and gambling-related information.

Now my feed is dominated by the likes of this chick Brigitte Gabriel and this utter douche Nick Adams.

right, I'm terribly confused. So you can buy twitter blue for $3 a month more than it is now, get verified, and still be completely anonymous or pretend to be someone else?

He's cleared out the board and made himself sole member and CEO, he's fired a load of developers and brought in autonomous car developers, and he's opening the floodgates to hate.
It's almost like he's driving it off a cliff on purpose.

I've only read about Bluesky and Mastodon, but both are not likely to go anywhere unless there is a massive emigration from twitter, and I don't think there has been one so far.

No, it is because his ego is more important than decency, democracy and the rule of law. Block it across Europe.

This would be the same Saylor
“In March 2000, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) brought charges against Saylor and two other MicroStrategy executives for the company's inaccurate reporting of financial results for the preceding two years.[15] In December 2000, Saylor settled with the SEC without admitting wrongdoing by paying $350,000 in penalties and a personal disgorgement of $8.3 million.[16][17][18] “

I don’t really understand how it stops the bots given they were pretty much all unverified anyway. I’d have thought it creates a bigger issue in that now “verified” users aren’t really verified at all, they are just paying for the badge
