People are talking about Mastodon (the social media platform, not the excellent band). I doubt it will take off, but it's an option.

I wasn't that active on twitter but I just deactivated my account. I cannot stand that idiot POS Musk, so I don't want to be a part of it...not that he will miss my contributions or me scrolling past idiotic advertisements.

Instead of going on Twitter to moan about Twitter, leave Twitter instead.

Stop being a slave to social media and let the entire platform crash

Along with its obvious downsides, there is a lot of useful/interesting information on Twitter too that you can tailor to your own individual interests.

It can even be useful in an emergency - this year there was a local wildfire and I could track its progress far more easily through twitter and assess how likely we were to have to evacuate (thankfully we didn’t) that I would have through traditional media.

For me Twitter was good for unfiltered news straight from the scene. It was also the fastest way of checking football scores.

There are genuinely some great sources of information and really creative funny accounts. If it becomes a dull right wing unfunny edge fest it would be a shame, if I wanted that I would unignore @dholliday

I've listened to a lot of Podcasts with Michael Franzese, son of Sonny Franzese of the Colombo crime family.

Now I'm actutely aware that the mob, as fascinating as I find them, are evil.

Now imagine that I was dissapointed in Michael Franzese when he did an interview with that travesty of a person.
