Freedom of speech is an important liberty, but the misconception by many (or perhaps disregard as it suits them) is that it doesn't give carte blanche to anything.

If you're inciting an insurrection, that could easily lead to harm or death of others and falls under potential criminal laws, you deserve to be silenced.

It's a very difficult thing for the likes of Twitter and Facebook et al. to find the appropriate balance, but I'd always air on the side of caution that not.

If you're inciting a resurrection*, that could easily lead to harm or death of others and falls under potential criminal laws, you deserve to be silenced.

insurrection*, otherwise theres some churches in trouble.

Advertisers will leave in droves if they remove moderation and stock price will collapse. He's already indicated to advertisers that moderation will continue.

There arent anywhere near enough people willing to pay subscriptions for twitter to charge one. Its selling point is its a free app/site.

I'm not a fan of the guy but happy he's bought Twitter. Sick of the hypocritical blue tick mafia on there. Very toxic place. And tbh I do believe in free speech. Only way to combat ideas you don't like is with words, not censorship.

It's funny to see some of the people who were previously saying that "Twitter is a corporation, free speech doesn't apply, they can do what they like". Now saying that this shouldn't be allowed to happen...

Well it's Elon's corporation now. Guess he can do what he likes.
Think there are some very valid concerns given his other business interests.

Some of the funding of what is now a private business aren’t from areas that are keen on free speech

You're misconstruing first amendment rights in the US with a private company moderating content on its platform. There are responsibilities with free speech. Anything else is just nihilism.

It is his company now but advertisers are also free to walk away, without that revenue there is no company.
