Elm: is this lad taking the pee?

Not a chance mate, he may be good and he may make the first team as a sub or even start some games, hes still young, and will need to adjust to Premeir League football IMO.

Saw his goals the lad can shoot, can he do it with less time and space, we dont know yet wheather his all round game is any good, or if he will even cut it at this level.
I agree that he'll probably need some adjusting time, but he has proven himself in the national team (not only the U21), I'd say he'll take Osmans place after a month or two.

During the international break he'll travel sround to some clubs in europe that have shown an interest in him, it's confirmed that he was on Finch Farm three or so weeks ago and met with Moyes.

He could add something to the team. I'd far rather we spend (say) £4m on Elm than £4m on Gary O'Neil who could provide solid cover but isn't the sort of player who could help us break into the top 4.

Given that we won't sell players who sign for us, I wonder if alot of agents try to steer their clients away from us.

It's the biggest decision in his career and he obviously has quite a few options besides us - leave the boy be.

If United had come in for him there wouldnt be a decision to make! The line, "they are a great team" would come out and it would be a done deal within an hour.

Sort it out lad!

According to some guy on here who apparently knows him personally, We have not made a bid for him. Nor has anyone else yet apparently.
It seems strange he is visiting clubs which have not made any sort of official move for the player. Obviously things work differently over there.

That seems odd, doesn't it? Why visit clubs that aren't going to make an offer? I need a job, so maybe I should pop out to a few places, get the feel of the atmosphere, and inform these firms in 2 months which of them I would like to work for, should any of them wish to employ me. Meanwhile, I'll pop a few quotes to the press about one particular firm which impressed me.

Surely to God we have made an offer? And if so, the lad should have been given a deadline. It's not like he's a fifteen year old kid or something that is meant for the future. If he signs, he'll be straight in the reckoning for a first team place. The lad is 21 isn't he? Surely that's old enough to make a decision about his short-term future? Think of all the university graduates that are now on the market. Are they all going to think about offers for a couple of months? Well the answer is no, they're mature enough to mull things over in a much shorter time frame than little Rasmus.

Very strange to be frank.

I agree it is frustrating not knowing whether he'll join or not, but it seems that money is not his priority, feeling that he belongs at the club and that the club takes care of him is his priority - I respect that ;)

To be honest he wouldn't visit clubs that had not shown an interest in him. It has been confirmed that he went to Goodison Park, and you don't go there if the club had not expressed an interest in him. I believe that the clubs he'll visit are the ones who have made enquiries about his availablity but have so far not made a formal cash bid.

I believe he will join us, but Fulham will be our biggest rival with Hodgsons tie to Scandinavian football.

How long does this lad need to make a decision? Assuming we've offered him a deal, it's time he either accepts or declines. I mean, who is he to keep us waiting? And why are we still waiting? We haven't time to fart around with lads of his untested ability.

Or am I wrong?

Yeah the little snot ball.

Damn good thrashing will sort that fugly bugger out.

Forget him Neb. Dont look like he's headed this way mate. Maybe he's hopin shitty will pick him up.

from what i can fathom elm is checking out a club today and another tomorrow and will decide what club he wants to go to after that.

i have to say i admire the lad for checking every avenue, atleast he isnt being greedy and just picking the club who are offering the most money.
(unlike certain greedy players i could mention ,ahem ,lescott)

i think im right in saying that when we first showed an interest the price banded about was 3-5 million.
in the last week i have read figures of around 8-10 million will now be the fee.

tbh im hoping we did put in a bid and had it excepted weeks ago (otherwise its now double the money).

it would be a bit strange that his club let him visit us if a fee hand not already been agreed , dont you think ?

I can't know for sure, but I actually think you're wrong, my impression of Elm is that he's a very down to earth kind of guy and wants to make a move to a club where he thinks he'll settle in, he said himself in an inteview that the biggest club or paycheck doesn't necessearily make the best choice for him. We'll see where he ends up, apparently the clubs he's visitng are AZ Alkmaar in the dutch league and Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.
