Transfer Rumour Eliaquim Mangala

Its an understatement to say he's not that good, even on loan. There is a possibility he may form part of the Mahrez deal so don't fret too much yet. We need cover in the middle, a relatively cheap option, vastly superior to Mangala, is Flint at Bristol City, unlike Mangala he scores goals, can jump, he'd throw himself in front of a train to block it and he reads a back line far better than this Citeh reject. They want £10 MIL, pocket money in today's market

Would I have rather had an actual left back - yes

I am going to be super upset about a loan for a player that might be able to help our defense - no

It's not a dream signing, but the downside is low.

This. Holgate is the closest we have to a first choice centre back. Guardiola clearly doesn't want Mangala so if he's able to nail down a starting spot then we should be able to sign him and solve a problem (and it is a problem for us, especially with Jags and Williams at the end of their careers). If he's rubbish then it's a half season loan and we can send him back to City.

Nothing to lose, just frustrating there's no attempt to sign a bloody left back.

Could never understand the moaning about signing a young defender to a team full of old, tired defenders. 10 mil may be pocket money but that goes the other way too. Why not pay it and see what happens? Seems to be everyone's philosophy about "world class" players.

If we have "small" deals like this in the works, we could see a pretty emphatic close of the transfer window for Everton. That's just me being hopeful like.

I'd be surprised, if we we're as confident as it sounds, if we weren't willing to pick up 100% of his contract. We have already shipped out Barkley, Lennon, Mirallas, and Sandro so I doubt it would be budgetary concerns. Who knows with us though.

...yep, you’re probably right. It sounds like a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

A loan deal gives us a chance to check him. It's a no-brainer. He is a beast of a man which is lacking in our defence. We can have a ball playing centre back next to him. All good.

I'm all for Mangala on loan!!
The lad has started 15 games for the most outstanding team in the premier league this season, along with number of substitute appearances. Guardiola trusted him in the absence of Kompany and even though he made a few 'very highlighted' errors, within an outstanding football team, it makes perfect sense to bring him to Goodison.

He's a left sided defender, physical, athletic with vast experience and so what if he defends a goal by hoofing it into the stands??! It's a loan, only a loan and fits what we need right now.
Anyone would think we are the most desirable club in the league, who can pick and choose whatever we want, the way some of our fans behave on here.

Support your club and stop moaning when we are trying to do a short term deal that makes absolute sense
