ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Most of them seem to be complete lunatics - who hold at least 1 of the following assertions

1. They deny that the bite took place at all ( No physical evidence - all sorts of bizarro world stuff)

2. They say that a bite is nothing - should not be punished (Can be consensual etc).

3. That while it is an issue it is not violent conduct.

4. That while violent conduct it is not as bad as (Insert incident here) therefore not deserving of 10 games.

5. That by giving a 10 game ban it is worse than racism because he only got the 8 games for that - ignoring his priors including the ban for racism.

This culminates into it being a FA/Fergie KONSPIRICEEE to get rid of DABESTPLAYAINDAWURLD and anyone who disputes that in the media is racist or part of the conspiracy!!!!

How do these people manage to make it through the day?

Honestly, did EFC fans do this when Fellaini was up for his ban? Was there a chorus of 'well player x did y which is worse and didn't get a ban, so...'? I honestly felt like the majority reaction was, Felli you're an idiot, yes you've been provoked but that's no excuse, take it on the chin and move on. Or am I "misremembering" that Evertonians engaged in the same type of deflective behaviour?

Nope, that was defo the reaction on here. Even the most ardent Fellaini fan (like me) acknowledged that he was bang out of order for reacting like he did. I was a bit shocked that it wasn't a higher ban myself, that is the reaction of a logical and sane mind.

Even the West Brom fans are talking about the RAWK Meltdown

Everyone is. I go onto the official England Members' forum from time to time, to check ticket sales etc, and was on there this morning; there's a thread about the 10-match ban, and every single post is saying it serves him right and that they can't defend him. But loads of posts saying how funny it is to hear or read of that lot bleating on - always the victim, etc etc.

Wonderful stuff all round.

Away from RAWK what are the kopites at your workplace like? I have to admit the two I work with have been refreshingly OK about it.

On Monday one of them was very much Saurez is an idiot and deserves everything he gets, but then when the 10 game ban was announced he thought it was a complete outrage referring to Defoe, Fellaini and Ferguson.

The other has remained pretty adamant that its irrelevant as Saurez will be gone in the summer so 4 games or 10 games makes no difference to him

The thing that really makes me laugh is all this "Fergie's Army" stuff, implying some sort of Ferguson led anti-Liverpool agenda.

As if Ferguson actually gives Liverpool a second thought these days! :D

This is just a symptom of a bigger problem for them. They've been long since surpassed by UTD, now they have lost their place at the top table altogether, City have seen to that. They can't accept it and they need to blame some external forces.

My two kopite mates have basically been of the opinion that, while 10 games is probably a bit harsh, it's not completely off the charts, and he's only got himself to blame.

They're split over whether they think he'll be there next season.

Throughout all this, I've noticed a few telling comments from people equating the bite with what might happen to amatures/Sunday leaguers: essentially that they would probably be banned for life. It's strange that the only differences between the two is talent, money and exposure. The fact that any sort of life ban would never be considered at this level is basically a concession that talent rightly skews any moral compass.

That's more general than Suarez-specific, though. He's done for this league. Let the Serie A make excuses for him next year, and let the six games he's suspended for next season force the transfer fee down by a few million.
