ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I'd like to know the limit of their defence of him. Like where does it stop?

Doubt it ever will, they have painted themselves into the absurdity corner again like they did with Mascherano - so even when he demands to move to a "big club" and goes on strike they will claim he was an ace bloke really and was forced out by the FA / Ferguson / racists / a conspiracy / dem Yanks etc etc.

Surely even they must have a line? What would he have to do for them to stop defending him?

8 Seems fair to be honest

10 wouldn't be out of the question

Joey Barton had already done 2 or 3 things at that point

This is technically only Suarez's second offence in the EPL and it's been 18 months since the racism

Matching the previous ban wouldn't offend me

That's generally what happens in most work places if you do something bad and then a reasonable amount of time passes before your next one

Plus, what's really worst out of Racism and Biting? They're both bad so a similar punishment wouldn't be outrageous

10 would be acceptable if you wanted to send a message that you're taking a harder line

12 seems too much to be fair

5 is not long enough either really

3 certainly isn't. He's got previous so anything less than he did before wouldn't be right, IMO

I wouldn't take the dutch offence into consideration though (will epxlain in a later post)

Wouldn't giving Suarez a longer ban than the one he got for racism be sending out the wrong message?

I would be disappointed but not surprised if it was only a 3 match ban.

On a scale of violent conduct from a two handed shove to gang raping the keeper at a corner, biting is definitely towards the Ched Evans end of the scale.

12 games wouldn't be too severe.

The FA have already said they can't take the Dutch incident into consideration anyway.
Officially no they can't but I can't imagine them wanting to give a lesser ban than that, would make them look impotent.

Regardless of whether he's technically got a history of violent conduct or not (and he does, but hasn't been punished for it) there's no way they will see this as a one-off or isolated incident, which might have been grounds for leniency. It's obvious he hasn't learned to control himself and improve his behaviour. I think anything <6 games will not be enough to discourage him from future such acts. Then again, he's clearly a sociopath, so maybe no length of ban would be.

He is so vital to them that they will defend the indefensible. However, the owners. Well that will depend on the coverage in the states. If anything is to go by Fox commentators slaughtered Suarez after his handball against Mansfield. More hostile than Champion's on ITV.

If you were working for Tesco and faced disiplinary action, if they used an offence you did at Sainsbury's to give you a stricter punishment, you'd think it was bull

It's the English FA and they should only take into account what happens in England

FIFA may take it into account but they're the world governing body so I can understand that
