what he achieved with Ipswich was a fantastic feat, then he managed in Portugal, spain and Holland and was successful there too.... he was great for England too. It was in his later years where started to wain a little, like I say though, it's only my opinion.
I read a fact that in his 13 years as Ipswich boss he only signed 14 players... the rest were developed through the clubs youth system.... if correct that is a fantastic achievement on it's own.
He certainly wasn't "great for England".
He only avoided exiting the '86 World Cup at the group stage by accident when his namesake, who was injured going into the tournament and predictably limped out of it plus his sideways passing crab got himself suspended and the team had to be changed.
Euro '88 was an unmitigated disaster and other England managers have been sacked for presiding less of a fiasco.
I know he got to the semi final in Italia '90 but it was pretty turgid progress and Cameroon were very unlucky in the quarter final.
Don't believe the myth, Kurt........Robson was a decent enough club manager but by no means a great one.
But as you say.....it is all about opinion and sure it would be a dull enough old world if we all held the same one....
But we are veering off topic here.....
Those Kopites.......what a bunch of idiots
