"Glen Johnson is one of the world's best," says Liverpool FC defender Javi Manquillo"
Javi Manquillo has hailed Liverpool FC team-mate Glen Johnson as one of the best right backs in the world.

The 20-year-old joined the Reds on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer and has vied with Johnson for the starting right back.

And the Spaniard says despite the competition, he came to Merseyside to play football.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper AS, Manquillo said: “I came [to Anfield] and I knew what to expect.

“Johnson is one of the world's best, but it was the best move for me. Atletico and I decided it was best, I needed to leave and play.”

Manquillo has made 12 appearances so far this season, four more than Johnson – although Johnson missed the whole of September through injury.

Brendan Rodgers handed him his competitive debut ahead of Johnson on the opening weekend against Southampton, and Manquillo is grateful of Rodgers' trust in him.

“It was very important. It is true he did not mind my age or anything. He has helped me a lot.

“Rodgers speaks Spanish and that helped me and Alberto Moreno to understand.

“[The language] is the hardest things, but I have help. Jose Enrique and Suso are some of our guides here.”

Manquillo, who also hailed captain Steven Gerrard as a “legend” and a “great person”, refused to be drawn on his future and whether that lies at Anfield or Atletico.

He also backed the Reds to turn around their current bad run of form.

“My goal is to play the most minutes possible for Liverpool this season. I do not look beyond that," he added.

“The results will come because it is working fine. There are many new players , but it's no excuse. We will be at the level that Liverpool demand.”

Did i hear this right but do they run an open top bus tour linking the city centre to Anfield?Oh wait they actually do.That place really is a proper tourist trap.

Hear about the many historical sights and stories surrounding this amazing football club from a live guide it say's on the advert. Will the tourists be told the whole story of Liverpool FC including the unsavory stuff warts and all?
'And on your right all these boarded up windows here is how we've intentionally ran the neighbourhood into the ground so we can get people's property off them cheap later'

We should do the same to be honest. They must make a fortune out of stadium tours and museum visits etc. plenty of visitors to the city would want to see both clubs stadiums if we marketed ours a bit.

4 times I have watched Charlie Divock and he is well over rated. Not seen him do one thing of note in 360 minutes of football
Come off it, remember in the first match against Lille, he run past Distin...once. Therefore he had our defenders on toast.

He's the next best thing, he's the new suarez...YNWA!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!

Was thinking the same myself.

This is one of the less tacky ideas to emerge from The Pit.

liverpool fan on facebook put a picture of rodgers up with the comment, i hope we dont lose him.

I replied, within two years you will be begging for him to go if he isn't sacked.

Their response- No, i think he will get the players in we need to take us back to where we belong!

All i could say is, if only he had over 100 million to spend to sign these players.

"And if you look up there, on the side of the stadium, you can see our tribute to a night when our supporters' biggest dream turned into a nightmare in Brussels."
