You could be right about the big names being dropped but I have my doubts..I can't see Rodgers taking away their opportunity to play at the Bernabeu on a CL night, they might not get that chance again. Even Sturridge travelled and he's not even match fit, just wants to be there.

Perhaps it is just Rodgers trying to do Mourinho mindgames but it is not as though RM is really going to be quacking in their boots if Liverpool name a full stength squad.

So the leaks of dropping Gerrard seem like they might be coming from Stevie camp to force a change in mind from Brendan. Bit like the interview that he'd be playing next year, whether at Liverpool or not, appeared a strategic one to speed up the contract negotiations.

Of course if they do play a weakened team and get a result Rodgers will be seen as a footballing genius ;-)
