ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

The thing that has most surprised me is Lovren's performances. I thought he was a good defender at S'ton, prone to huge brain farts but overall decent.

But he has been awful this season and he doesn't have the excuse of some of the other players of being young and unfamiliar with the league. I know it takes a while for CBs to build a rapport but he's been with Liverpool for 3 months now and has played most of that time with Skrtel, you'd expect to have seen some improvement in their understanding but it doesn't look like it so far, if anything it is getting worse.

No pace for me and a [Poor language removed] house when it comes to sticking his head in where it hurts. I thought he was decent for the Saints but still thought they overpaid by a couple of mil at the time. Long may he reign with whoever his gets lumped with.
20M.... I would be fuming if we had spunked that on such tripe

Most of the CBs that have moved this past season seem to have cost outrageous amounts though, Spurs seemd to get the best value but Dier and Fazio have had their own issues settling. Think I've been spoilt by how good Moyes was at picking up a good defender on the cheap.

Might give Brenda a buzz, i know it,s late but his kitchen light is still on.

Ah bless, better not interrupt him working at this late hour.

What a trooper, would just like people to appreciate how hard that lad works.

Other managers would benefit from his example and maybe make themselves a better person.

“There is no chance of us bringing in a defensive coach,” Rodgers said. “We have conceded a large number of soft goals, there’s no argument about that, but I think it is just a lack of coaching time that is hurting us. We need to reinforce basic principles at defensive set pieces, but we know that already. We have to get better and we will be working on it.

“When I first came in I was asked whether I would bring someone in to help the strikers score goals. I didn’t, and we got goals anyway. I think what we have this year is more games to carry, which takes a slight intensity out of us. We are in the big competitions now and there is an added expectancy on us, which there should be. We are Liverpool. When you concede the goals that we have been conceding there will always be questions asked of you. We need to answer those questions and I believe we can. In terms of bringing someone else in, we don’t need it.”

There conceding goals and not scoring now so that would suggest he hasn't got a clue on either

.......last season Gerrard sat in front of the two centre backs, he was on a mission because he saw a real chance of the Holy Grail. He drew on every last ounce his beaten up body had. The defence was watertight and he had his quarterback passing ability to hit Suarez and Sturridge early as they sat on defenders shoulders. The team model worked a treat.

He's still able to hit fantastic passes but watch QPR last week and see much less positional discipline, leaving the centre backs more exposed. I suggest the defensive frailties are not only down to the CBs.

Anyone get on Jordan Henderson's dive, wonder what their fans think of that.

Also I've never seen how many fans an opponent took on an away European game be so debated. I think it's widely acknowledged it was around 10 to 13k yet Sad Max thinks it's 'Laughable' we only took 8k

Well when your lurking have a look at this you sad melt

With regards to Henderson, their reflex action as soon as they all do that is to feign injury instantly,Suarez was the master at it,but its not gone unnoticed that they ALL repeat this action, rotten to the core as a club, made up with Diame actually having the b*lls to stand his ground and maybe swayed the ref to book him, having said that what was that all about with the ref talking to Gerrard after repeat offender Balotelli already on a yellow had committed yet another foul, another instance of the workings of Special Dispensation FC.

Without the results Brent's sound bites sound like the BS filled character that the entire football nation howled at on 'Being Liverpool'. He got away with the blarney when his Suarez inspired side was smashing teams every week, no-one really challenged his cliche riddled nonsense. However, now the results have dried up and his post Suarez £200m side looks like the Dog and Duck at times, the kopites are picking over his words and slowly realising that he's still the same clown who produced the 3 envelopes.

His time's running out, the natives are starting to get restless and Dalglish has dug his auld tramps coat out the back of his wardrobe in anticipation

In the Guardian today:

Man managing: best philosophy
Brendan Rodgers: 1) “I’m the type of manager who will give players an opportunity, even players whose confidence needs building back up”; 2) “When you are confident you have more success. It’s as simple as that”; and 3) “Mario’s doing his best. Whether his best will be good enough remains to be seen.”
