ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

He keeps talking about Balotelli as if he was out on his arse and without a club and he's took this massive risk on him. Truth is Balotelli has and always will land on his feet with a club stupid enough to lay him a wedge. He was supposed to be Milans talisman star player, they couldn't get him out of the door quick enough and Brenda took the bait. No one else was even fishing for this lad because he's so overhyped it's unreal. Stay at Liverpool Mario and bleed that shower for every penny you can is what I say!!

Yep if you could possibly add Coutinho for 8.5m but it really is just Sturridge and him who you can honestly say have done decent for them

i just don't rate coutinho tbh, he to me is a brazilian osman. he's annonymous in oh so many games, but if you only see him on MOTD, he looks a good player because you see him do something good every now and then. i've heard fans of other clubs say how good a player osman is.

Don't know about Sturridge either mate, he's never on the pitch due to injuries and had a shyte World Cup.

he cost £12 and has an amazing scoring record - a scoring record you'd expect from a £25m man, it wouldn't be an issue if liverpool hadn't have spunked £150m up the wall. if they could get a player the calibre of eto'o in to share the burden instead of balotelli and lambert for £20m, he wouldn't be missed anywhere near as much or need to be used as much.

That's a good comparison mate tbh and I know we all slag Osman off but if we had spent 8.5m on him and he gave us 10 years service we would say that's a decent return for our dollar. I'm not saying he's boss, he's just a lot better than most of the [Poor language removed] he's purchased. Look at all of those names and 3 quarters of them have barely played/been given a chance. He's a terrible manager in the transfer market.

yeah true. for any manager worth their salt it would be a bit of an average signing, but yeah looking at that list it looks like a bargain of cahill proportions ha.

he lived solely at the start of his career buying players he'd already managed i.e. scott sinclair, siggurdson, borini - he's running out of players now and only in the last two markets has he actually bought players he's not worked with before - it hasn't gone well. long may he continue like, he won't win anything with them.

He's getting found out big time because like you said he struggles to manage players he hasn't worked with previously. In a few months you can ask your mate what he thinks of him and whether his ego got too big too soon as I firmly believe he won't be given too much longer now. The longer the better though as you say is good for all concerned ;)

Has there ever been a bigger coward in that liverpool managers chair than gnashers?

He's fed a player to the lions to cover his own limitations.

Stay classy Brendan.

It really is pretty miserable. He sits there in the press room allowing them to rip Mario to shreds over a shirt swap. Luis Suarez was allowed bite and racially abuse someone and he got t-shirts made for him. I'm starting a "Free Mario" campaign.

Rodgers' career defined in two sentences:

Got lucky inheriting Martinez's method and organisation at Swansea.
Got lucky inheriting Suarez at Liverpool.

Stripped of all the nonsense, that's it.

A man in the right place at the right time. But now he has to do it himself and he's sinking like a house brick in the deep end.
