Happens everyday to everyone. Only if it upsets black people is it wrong. Chinese people get joked about all the time and no one gives a ****.

Did you see 'Make Bradford British' the other night. The two black people on there, perfectly sound- if a bit strange- people, untill they went in that historic listed building with portraits from hundreds of years ago in. They were actually offended at the lack of black people in there and had a heart to heart with eachother about how they didn't feel part of Britain anymore. This is the kind of ****e that shouldnt even be entertained. Get a ****ing grip. You are British you were born here. There wasn't a lot of black people in Britain in the 1500's. Things have changed. Get the **** over it. I fumed at that. It's just one example.

I agree with all this, and without watching that Bradford thing or whatever, almost, if not all, of the black people in Britain during the 1500's were slaves, maybe that is why there aren't so many historic figures who happen to be black, from that time.

I concur x10000. There aren't many portraits of black people because there weren't many black people you pair of dickheads.

It was a sh*t program as well. Portrayed as a sociological experiment into racism and prejudice - nothing more than Big Brother or I'm a Celebrity.

TOMMY ROBINSON IN FFS!

Rugby team welcomed into the country. Is this racist Dave? They've got grass skirts and spears and sing "ugga booga", must be right?
Or maybe they're willing participants like the advert.

Yet when a white man is portrayed as hopelessly dancing around a dancefloor it's perfectly fine. Stop being so uptight. People were meant to have the piss ripped out of them. As long as they can take it back then I don't see the problem.

Oh, for God's sake.

But if someone takes the piss out of me for not being able to dance then it does not affect me in any broader socio-economic sense. I am mocked but not politically oppressed. Reinforcing the (inaccurate) notion that darkies are uncivilised jungle-bunnies who can only use knives and forks because we had the decency to enslave them does oppress black people since it has the underlying message that white people are superior.

I ask again, just why is it that black people are paid less than white people? I mean, the brightest lad in my class is black African. Why, in the 21st century, is he almost certainly going to be made to pay for his colour (in a way that you or I never will, Nik)?

Dave is right.

It wasn't representing that though was it? Just because they showed a tribe in an ad doesn't mean they were implying that all "darkies are uncivilised jungle-bunnies". It's people like you and davek who have made that connection somehow.

Tribes do exist in many parts of Africa do they not? Should we ban the filming or representation of all tribes from now on and live in ignorance? Or even better maybe we should protest for them to be destroyed because they make black people look "uncivilised".

Like I said before if people are looking to be offended you can find an excuse to be offended by just about anything.

I'm sorry but that **** just does not happen anymore. And if it does the company would be absolutely ****ed. Simple as. When I was jobless I actually started putting I was gay and black on the application forms coz I was that desperate to get a job. Equality has gone so far that if there is a 'low quota' of a certain people then they need to fill it asap. How about just pick the best person for the job ffs. Colour shouldn't matter. If you've got a business full of white people then they're there on merit. Equally if you've got a business with a lot of black people then it should be on merit also.

It's like the police now (having trained for 9 months with them, I know). If they have a high quota of black people stopped and spoken to that night, they then have to go and stop IC1's (white male) to make up for it. Vise versa. With all these 'politcally correct' measures put into place, you're making race a bigger issue than it should be.

I didn't realise Vernon Kay was maori ?

koff Vernon, get Tess on !!

As were the ones doing the Grand Old Team Haka mate, you should know better tbh as the Maori play the Haka card at every opportunity that suits. The offence taken and the grief that the 'dancers' got after doing our kit launch suggests that the Maori were doing exactly what you are saying Dave has done.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, a Maori can't do a haka unless it is specific to his/her own tribe or it's offensive, unless of course he gets to pull on the black jersey, in which case he can do one that was used AGAINST his people in the past, or he can even be Samoan/Tongan/Fijiian or even a feckin Aussie.

I'm not arsed about offence, mate. I'm arsed about oppression.

^^^^ This.

Agreed. And yet, somewhat inconveniently for your argument, it seems to. Given that black people earn less than white people on average.

Which makes me think you're making race a smaller issue than it should be.

Maybe because they are in less well paid jobs perhaps? I don't think you'd get a black cheif executive of a company getting paid less than his white equivelant. Not these days anyway. White people can't help it if black people tend to be from poorer areas and families and sometimes don't make it out of a basic paid job. Hey, it happens to a lot of white people to.

Mate black people all over the country are crying into their breakfast cereals and questioning their Britishness and their belonging in a western world after seeing that monstrous advert.

 If I were to make a bet I would say more non-black people were offended by that ad than actual black people.

I watched that Bradford programme. The Muslim ex-rugby league feller running off to the mosque every hour God sends was hilarious.
