You cant see the racism of a white man held at spear point in the jungle?

PMSL here.

Please say this is a wind up.

More non-racist imagery: Japanese people with buckteeth and glasses; Indian man wiggling his head from side to side, hands together saying 'Goodness gracious me'.

...there's no harm in that, 'it's what they look like/do'.

You're missing the point there Dave.

In the advert Reina finds himself in potentially dangerous situations but because of his insurance company he feels safe.

In one example he finds himself in a jungle captured by tribesmen who are looking to eat him. But feels safe cause of his insurance company.

Now if they had had him surrounded by black men in suits who had just come home from a hard day at the office but were then acting like savage tribesmen and looking to eat them you would have a point : yes it is using outdated racial stereotypes that all balck men are savage canibals.

However that advert didn't do that because the type of savage man eating tribe it is depicting were historically African and black.

Its no more "racist" than casting a black man to play a slave in a film about slavery. Which isn't racist and saying that all black men are niggers.

I believe its Ace Ventura Pet Detective 2 where Jim Carrey meets and african tribe. They're all black. Using your logic that would be racist. Is it?

I am appalled by Pepe's actions and am in the process of writing a letter of complaint to Libplfblklb and am organising a UAF rally outside Anfield.

Dave

Watch it all the way through mate. The negritos are actually gay and the spears are phallic. The Spanish Queen is scared at first, but when he realises this, he allows the spears inside his anal passage followed by the tribesmen and then King Dalglish. It's a celebration really.

But Glen Johnson dresses up as a gay savage all the time in training and threatens to rape/ eat Pepe and no-one takes offense, it's just more misunderstood Kopite banter.

Best interpretation yet.

You and others keep claiming this isn't racism, as if my judgement is solitary and out of line. But it's so cut and dried as a racist act that the ad's been pulled and bollockings have been issued all round.

It wasn't an episode of roots mate, it was a crass bit of marketing that played on age old racial fears of Europeans being taken into the deep dark jungle and having all manner of unChristian, mumbo-jumbo savagery applied to them...usually topped off by being boiled in a pot with a few veg thrown in for good measure.

It really isn't that difficult to de-code lads.

Think about it.

This Reina ad is either harmless, stupid humour & irreverent or proves Reina's an idiot to get involved in something that is clearly racist - not much middle ground here - but it depends how you interpret it & where LFC fit into Spanish culture - at least from LFC's POV he's not wearing his club colours.

But is that really racist? A few years ago it was considered "a joke", its not really saying that all black people walk around the jungle saying mumbo-jumbo, its merely pointing out that some tribes in the jungle do live like that.

The whole world has gone PC crazy and whilst some forms of humour are racist and should be phased out, some elements arent really meant offensively and its all getting taken out of context.

I doubt ANY black person would take offence at those adds and if they do, they need to have a long hard look at themselves.

Laughing at this. Last week I was condemned by you for using the term Uncle Tom....now you dont see the racist overtones in blacks being portrayed as savages to sell some gear. Ask your mate John Barnes if he finds it offensive.

That's what I said you donut.

So far on here its you and one campaign group, who upon complaining had the advert pulled. Probably not becasue the makers agreed it was racist but were worried about any negative publicity it might bring.

Again i'll repeat the point that if it played on the old racial stereotype of a regular black man on the street really being an uneducated savage who wanted to eat the white man cause they're all like that you'd have a point.

But it didn't.

I see where you're coming from and understand your point but i just don't see the intentions of the advert as you do.

That's no answer at all is it really? You cant say today that you're not black so you'll leave it to black people to determine whether to be offended by that ad, and have any credibility for pulling me up for using the term Uncle Tom last week because you were offended by it. Presumably you weren't black then either?

See the point being made? It's not hard to understand to be fair.

It's a moveable feast. What once was ok sometimes becomes not ok. People who use the word 'coloured' for example are caught out by the shift. It doesn't make them Nazi Party members. But if they learn that it's offensive to others and they carry on using it that makes them ignorant. I agree that all the Baa Baa black sheep stuff is maddening mate, but that ad was so iffy it's off the charts. Clearly some company flogging insurance by using that scene is not on in this day and age. Would it have gotten made in England? Would it fcuk!!

I give up with you davek. Honest to god, you love to antagonise just for the sake of it.

Read my reply, then read it again. Then gain.

Then deafen yourself with a sharpened pencil please.

That's just a lame attempt to deflect. I'll ask you again: why did you find Uncle Tom offensive but not that ad?
