ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

The Establishment Club has to be soothed and told how good they are by the national broadcaster. What an obvious piece of bias. It's Arsenal's night but they have to pacify the Kopite psychos unless they feel like taking lives again...

'Look at us! Look at us!!! It's not fair that Arsenal are getting all the attention!'

Jesus f'ing Christ, mate! 🤦‍♂️

If they start continuously dipping out of Europe early then uefa will have a problem on their hands. Their fans are absolute animals when they’re winning and getting to finals, god knows what they’d do if they were being slapped regularly like PSG did to them. You’d have to board up whole city centres betore they arrived.

There's too much evidence to contradict that.

Rome, Heysel, Istanbul, Athens, Paris...mayhem.

The whole of Europe hates them.

The British media may have massaged the butchery in Brussels away for them but it's still well remembered on the continent. They're synonymous with football hooliganism and death.

I'm all in with Arsenal now. If they win that CL that lot will be in mourning - with the PL trophy in the cabinet.
Even more so if Villa do it... But that's a long shot.

Let me ask you this, Dave, since you also follow Celtic in the Scottish League.
A fan got this tattoo:

The inscription reads: ‘I’ve always said that you can live without water for many days, but you can’t live for a second without hope.’

Like a super creepy love sonnet to Brenda Rodgers. Without any context, is that a Celtic or a RS fan's tattoo?

UEFA probably have completely separate planning profiles for finals involving them and not involving them. Riot police, tear gas, unannounced bus routes and timings, temporary fencing, steward segregation in stadiums, wider police ramp up across the entire city, all in the playbook when that lot are at a final. There’s a completely different playbook for every other team.

And they had an excuse for every one of those nights, blame the police. Paris for instance, there were forged tickets on an industrial scale, but let's twist that and blame the police. Strange how there's never any trouble in other finals between normal fans.

No idea why I'm supposed to be 'a celtic fan' btw.

Couldn't give a monkey's about them. Hibs are my Scottish club. 🤷‍♂️

I would imagine that to be very true.

They're like a contagion that has to be contained.

The latest European finals re-think was on the back of their riot in Paris - the one they conveniently pushed responsibility for onto ghetto-dwelling African migrants.

The Parisian gendarmes and CRS riot police still haven't received the credit they deserve for stopping another Heysel.

Something they and their media admirers - like that hand wringing tit David Conn in the Guardian - stated was a lie...but was eventually proven to be the case.

I've read parts of books written by their fans about the Rome final. Phil Thornton and Hickey Hicmott if I remember correctly.

They link heysel to the 1984 Rome final. They say they were mistreated by Italian police and wanted a revenge in 1985.

I've also learned they were based in Ladispoli in 1984. Ladispoli is a quiet seaside place near Rome, I've been there on vacation with my family for years as a kid and as a teenager. I was surprised to read they had fights with the locals even there, even though they ended up playing a friendly match against a local amateur team.

In 1984 AS Roma lost on penalties, but Phil Neal's goal (1-0 later equalised by Pruzzo) had to be disallowed.

You're right, they always start off by 'holding their hands up' to Liverpool fans being the cause of the wall collapsing and those deaths...but they always talk much more about that incident by referencing the trouble with Roma the year before - which is basically a deflection and non-apology 'apology'.
