That's all I could ever ask from an Everton side - fight and spirit. Absolutely made up - just goes to show what hard work and determination does.

I dont often post, but I feel compelled to after what I watched yesterday.

So many problems in this team both on the field and on the sidelines. I am prepared to give Koeman time and transfer windows to get it right - but what is most worrying is that I dont see any sort of style or influence of his on the team. A manager must have more in his armour than a pressing game, and if we dont have anything else the end result should not be hoofing it forward.

I think one of our main problems is the flat-footed nature of alot of our players; Baines, williams, barry, Seamus. We are slow to react and are second to every ball and this has an effect on the balance of the team - we were so deep for the first goal yesterday. The left hand side is a massive problem - I echo what some said above about Baines being substandard since the world cup - he cant run anymore. Baines was and remains one of my favourite players, but he is not the asset he once was. He has become very predictable with the first time ball everytime he gets it on the left. Theres no interplay there anymore, theres no one-twos to get behind the defence. I know Koeman likes the early ball in, but Baines had lost his legs towards the end of the martinez era too after he came back from injury. Barry in the left side of our midfield two is unable to cover for Baines either when he does get forward, causing the whole left side to be unbalanced.

Positives for me yesterday was seeing Valencia coming on and him actually trying. I would like to see valencia start on Tuesday, either in left wing or upfront with Lukaku. Our wingers have been terrible, and Valencia tries hard and keeps possession actually quite well surprisingly, and crucially, he will play close to romelu.

I actually liked the formation yesterday, I would like to see ross come in for mcarthy and not play number 10. Think he could do better in a more withdrawn centre mid role in a 3 man midfield than as a number 10. Would like to see valencia and ross come in for mirallas/geri and mcarthy as the only realistic changes for tuesday. Would love to see holgate in at RB but simply not a realistic change Koeman will make at this stage.

I said this after the Watford game - and am happy that I got some right, but also very happy that I was proven wrong regarding Baines. He was tremendous defensively and offensively tonight - I think he was definitely was boosted by having mcarthy/lennon/gana covering for him instead of barry. He made some great runs and often was never picked out, but the effort to get up and down was there. Lets hope he builds on it.

Thought the formation was much more fluid with Barkley in the team as the most advanced of the midfield 3 and is hopefully something a position we will see him play more often rather than the number 10 where he lacks the final ball instinct. In the more withdrawn role he can be our ball carrier.

Credit to Enner Valencia - chastised when signed but really took his opportunity today and deserves his start on Monday in my opinion. He keeps possession well and won a fair amount of headers. He got evidently tired towards the end but thought his play to be close to romelu was tremendous and allowed us to get higher up the pitch as we were more likely to retain the ball when hit long.

Same team on Monday for me except for RFM in for Jags which i would have favoured anyway. Think Monday will be played at a pace too fast for Barry unfortunately.

Who comes in for Jagielka then?

Hopefully Holgate, probably Funes Mori. I don't like Funes Mori but I don't know why Jagielka came in for him tonight. Stank the gaff out for most of tonight as well.
