2025/26 Dwight McNeil

I am pleased the club are not at fault as no footy player deserves that.

Having seen his Instagram story, it puts into perspective how much events like this can affect you and I know we are excellent at supporting players through tough times.

I feel for him. I know that when he next takes the field he will be warmly supported by the fans.

He hasn’t done anything wrong but I think paying what we did for some players who are not playing has resulted in more frustration from a lot of us that he plays instead.

Do feel for him, a new environment would've been good.

Thought he looked more like himself away at Forest and Villa but quickly slid back into poor form after. He'll likely still get matches so it's on him to perform, at least to the standards he held from previous years.

…..my assessment of this is he was largely looking like a decent back-up to Ndiaye during AFCON, certainly justifying selection over Dibling with telling contributions against Forest and Villa. Moyes trusted him, he earned that.

Then he had his unforgivable part in the Leeds goal, Moyes hooked him at half-time, he hasn’t been seen since and Moyes sanctioned his transfer out. Moyes no longer trusts him.

I’d see George as first in the pecking order now, he’ll have the opportunity to earn the Managers trust. It’s not rocket science, it’s nothing to do with age, it’s doing the job you’re sent out to do.

I don’t think it helps when he doesn’t track his runners and they score from it. He just seems to switch off at times.

Should have sold him much earlier in the window, realising that he's nowhere near good enough and offers us nothing (which his recent dismal performances have confirmed). Everton once again dallied and delayed in the transfer window, seemingly only coming upon Tyrese George in the final days and then realising he plays the same position as McNeil. By only (seemingly) making McNeil available for transfer in the final days/hours/whatever, it caused something to go majorly wrong in the dying minutes and has now caused him to remain an Everton player with no guarantee he will be sold in the summer, and certainly for nowhere near the £20 million that was offered last night.

Had this have occurred a week ago, the issue could have been sorted, or he could have moved to somebody else instead. Instead, time ran out and he is back at Finch Farm today instead of being paraded as a Palace player.

Other clubs can make significant signings in January, Moyes was telling all and sundry back in December that money is available in January, Kinnear confirmed back in the summer that our PSR position is healthy, so why is the club constantly waiting until the final days to strengthen the squad?
Have you ever thought that nobody wanted to buy him earlier in the window?

It’s not like you can just push a button and move a player on.

You’d have only been moaning at the club then if we’d have moved a winger on while our best attacker as at Afcon.

I’m not sure the post from his missus, which he has shared, is going to help. It happened to Guehi in the summer. He’s better off just getting his head down and working hard as he’ll still get minutes, then he can try and move in the summer if he still wants to.
It should help, and it’s probably something that needed saying.

I think as a whole, we forget these players are first and foremost, human beings, who suffer the same doubts, insecurities and fragility as the rest of us.

It might make those bellends think twice before shouting abuse the next time one of our players misplaces a pass.

Palace responsible. Should've sent special agent J. Bond in to oversee it.

Exactly this. Some people just want to pour scourn on everything the club does, even when its not in their control. Lunacy.
