Maybe people don't realise that this is what a lot of Brexiteers think. "We beat Germany twice". Of course, the contibution that the Soviet Union, USA, Australia, Canada, NZ, India, plus a whole host of other countries made is simply forgotten. You just can't reason with people like that, it's like trying to explain the Theory of Relativity to a kangaroo.

Hahaha difference is after an hour or so the kangaroo would get it, the Brexiteers however.....

The contribution of other countries is never forgotten. However in WW1 what you have forgotten is that all these other countries were not in it from 1914-1918, some came in (USA), some went out (Russia). But the U.K., France and their armies were always in it. The Royal Navy played a huge part that no other navy on the planet could have done in both WW1 and WW2. In WW2 if the U.K. had caved in that would have been the end, of Russia and the USA eventually. So before you try to demean what the U.K. did, perhaps you could at least try and study what happened. But perhaps I might have better luck explaining it to your kangaroo.......

1.3 million Indians were involved in the war from 1914-1918, almost forgotten.

Why would he do that?

I'm not demeaning what the UK did. As you said yourself, France was with us from the start to the end in WWI, and we had many allies throughout WWII - for example, many Polish airmen fought in the Battle of Britain. Implying that we defeated Germany (as some Brexiteers seem to do) on our own is simply wrong.

What is it with people continually referencing a war that ended 74 years ago, which left us bankrupt and enduring rationing for a further nine years. And another thing, I don't want a bloody allotment.

They want want the Americans to finish off the job they actively participated in, getting rid of G in Great Britain. This time round it's in the guise of a free trade crumbs from Trump.

Do people who studied the War at British high schools have any idea how comically useless and incompetent the British performance was in every single theatre outside Britain itself? If this thread is anything to go by, I suspect not.

It would be of enormous benefit to the world if the Anglo-Saxon countries de-propagandised their school curriculae (curriculums? curriculii?), and attempted to teach actual history instead.

Not for nothing did Leave occur in the only place that remembers the war as a glorious encounter, rather than a source of permanent humiliation and shame.
Maybe they should have gone to German High Schools to get proper history lessons. Then they would know that the holocaust didn't happen. Probably UK propaganda at work again.

Anyone that denies how important the US and Russia were to the outcome of the war is a fool. Anyone that downplays the role of the UK is equally lacking in intelligence.
