Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Trump will probably say “see this shows no collusion and didn’t affect the results of the election”

Things he’ll miss out
1) that it contradicts his frequent assertions that there was no Russian meddling and will he now focus on sanctions beingapplied and steps put in place to stop it happening again
2) this indictments doesn’t appear to cover his son’s meeting with Russians offering Clinton dirt or the lying surrounding that meeting
3) there are three campaign staff now cooperating with Mueller yet they also don’t look like they are covered by these types of activities so what are they trading Mueller in exchange for leniency?
4) if at worst it was unwitting assistance by his campaign why did he fire Comey and lie about the reasons?

It is terrific reading - and I think it's part of the strategy:
- indict people they believe actually committed crimes, regardless of whether or not they get to actually prosecute due to their physical location
- get arrest warrants issued - if they're in the US, take them into custody, if they're not, keep an eye on them until they travel to a country where they can be legally detained and transferred to the US
- then, get them to make a deal.

I am guessing that this is the Grand Jury that Mueller is using for his investigation. Though it seems a possibly futile gesture, this is all part of exploring all the facets of the interference in the 2016 investigations, and I think it will bear some fruit.

Also, Melania really doesn't do it for me.

UPDATE: Mueller's office put out a statement about these charges, so it is the Grand Jury he is using.

We may disagree, but I'd argue this IS fruit.

Mueller had a pretty broad mandate and I'm glad to see he's not just chasing down administration indictments. I ultimately think little will come of this with regard to the WH, but regardless we should use this to shine light on how a foreign actor did involve itself in our affairs. Seems Mueller is doing that.

That is one of the things I found bizarre when many on the right have dismissed the foreign interference angle - just because the Russians tried to sway the election to Trump this time doesn’t mean they (or another foreign government using the same tactics) won’t be against either him or another Republican candidate.

It is in the interest of all poltical parties to reject foreign involvement, goodness knows we can mess up our elections all by ourselves without outside help!

For sure. And anyone taking solace that Russia tried to help their candidate is being absurd. Russian involvement was to sow chaos and distrust. As I'm sure you know, I don't particularly think the American media is trustworthy to begin with, but still, I think the last year or so resulted in everyone becoming distrustful of everyone else. Of media, of politicians, of institutions, of each other.

So I think they were quite successful. Now my personal belief is that a lot of that distrust is warranted - media is corrupted, institutions are politically charged, etc. - so we probably didn't make it all that difficult for them.

Our increasing polarization probably didn’t help but they were spending a hell of a lot of money so bound to have some influence.

Fair enough re the campaign comparison, still think a monthly budget of $1.25million for online influence isn’t chump change.

It isn't, but when viewed against what the campaigns themselves were spending (around $80 million in total on the GE) it is a lot less.

A comparison closer to home over here would be the £1 million that the Tories spent just on Facebook ads attacking Corbyn, back when online abuse was ok as long as people did it for money.

Going to be interesing to see if this Internet Research agency LLC was funded for other elections than the 2016 US election.

"There was NO Russian interference with our election and I am not going to enact sanctions approved by congress by a 95-5 vote and I signed."
