Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

I read it's not even 60, 60 is to keep it from being filibustered. 2/3 of the Senate needs to agree to overturn a president's veto i think?
Exactly. 60 was needed just to prevent the filibuster, 2/3 for a veto override - had that 2/3 been obtained on that vote, I had delusions of the House giving in and actually considering legislation and the President's veto threat would have been moot.

But it was not to be so.

is it too early for you guys to form a view if The Donald will win a second term? Excuse my ignorance but is is a definite hell get an unopposed run for the Republican cause? I don't know how it works whether the president has an automatic right to fight a second term or if he has to win his party's mandate? And assuming he does - can he win again?!
He has to win the Repiblican primary but the last time there was a serious challenger for the incumbent was Ted Kennedy vs Carter. Most likely person to try would probably be Ohio governor Kasich but very much doubt he'd succeed, more chance of Trump choosing not to run due to ill health or legal issues imo.

As for your last question - what happens in the midterms later this year might make things a little clearer.

I can't foresee a viable challenger in the mold of Kasich unless Trump goes off the rails even more (I know, I know). In other words, I agree, it's extremely unlikely.

I think Trump, at the moment, stands a decent chance of reelection. I'm honestly more concerned about the Porter "scandal" than the Russian one. If more of that occurs, and if Democrats can stop overselling their arguments against the WH and focus on the WH's history of incompetence, I think that could be a winning platform. Of course, it'd have to be paired with a viable candidate, and I don't see Harris or Warren or someone like that being a winner.

I think @Pettifogger and @LinekersLegs are on point here - there isn't a Republican out there that would beat Trump in a primary now - and the Democrats (my party of choice in our 2 party system) don't have anyone who appears to be a legit challenger today. My best hopes lie in scandal, impeachment or indictment.....and that's pretty sad.

The incumbent has a huge advantage as his party is usually united whilst their rivals are each trying to beat each other up to win the nomination. And I doubt that Trump will do redo HW's cardinal sin of raising taxes as Trump doesn't give one jot about running a deficit and never has.

I don't think it quite that bleak despite the lack of a clear frontrunner and the headwinds I detailed above.

Trump only won narrowly against an unpopular Clinton and he's hardly been gaining converts since. Unless the business cycle has been entirely repealed we're likely to have a recession at some point prior to 2020 and whether fair or not that usually gets blamed on the president. Whilst he still has his base the very actions that motivate them encourage another segment to go to the polls in opposition and there are popular issues that Dems can run positive campaigns on such as drug policy and education.

Indictment is great reading.

I love the American indictments against foreigners, it’s like saying I wanna sleep with Melania Trump.

Ok, but so?
It is terrific reading - and I think it's part of the strategy:
- indict people they believe actually committed crimes, regardless of whether or not they get to actually prosecute due to their physical location
- get arrest warrants issued - if they're in the US, take them into custody, if they're not, keep an eye on them until they travel to a country where they can be legally detained and transferred to the US
- then, get them to make a deal.

I am guessing that this is the Grand Jury that Mueller is using for his investigation. Though it seems a possibly futile gesture, this is all part of exploring all the facets of the interference in the 2016 investigations, and I think it will bear some fruit.

Also, Melania really doesn't do it for me.

UPDATE: Mueller's office put out a statement about these charges, so it is the Grand Jury he is using.

Should be noted that anyone who may have worked with these that have been indicted could very well be in hot water as well.

Drip, drip, drip...
