Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

I Called Around. I Spoke to Generals. None of Them Want a Parade.
President Trump's proposed ego boost is as stupid as it is costly.

Only those who have not seen war have any desire to celebrate war. Parades, such as the one the current chief executive demands, are anathema to those who actually served. From the lowest rank to the highest, there is nothing more detested than the idea and reality of a parade. This would seem to be a key indicator of how far out of touch with the military President Trump is at this point. His only quasi-experience with service was at an “academy” that parroted the military. But at the core, it was a school for rich kids. If Donald Trump went to Basic Training, he would have had a traumatic bowel evacuation. And there would be no talk about a parade.

France has an entirely different histoire. The parades in France are apparently the drivers for his directive, but in America we have only done such parades rarely. Victory over the traitors in the Civil War, victory in World War I, World War II—that sort of thing. A parade of the professional military, at the cost of millions, for no reason? Not so much. (Nominally this would be to celebrate the end of WWI, 100 years ago, but that is a farce.)

“I have the best people”
So superior that they can't travel in coach even for short haul flights.

The Washington Post reported Sunday that Pruitt’s frequent first-class travel includes a $1,600 flight from D.C. to New York and two $4,443 round-trip flights to Alabama, and that he took a $36,000 military jet from Cincinnati to New York—so he could catch his first-class flight to Rome. Pruitt also brings a large security detail and top aides with him on every trip, increasing his travel bill compared to past administrators. In all, the Post reported, Pruitt and his entourage racked up at least $90,000 in travel bills—and that was just the month of June.

People that do that sort of sinister crap need a good solid beating.

Although, i am amazed they don't have the secret service screen their mail, seen as they have protection. I always figured that was part of their job.
I am surprised, as well, that the USSS wasn't already screening their mail - and, frankly, that the Trump organization wasn't already doing so as a matter of corporate policy, given Donald Trump's role as President and his family's often negative actions and coverage.

I am no supporter of the current President - I think and hope that he will resign the presidency, be impeached or at least defeated in 2020. That said, it is essential that he and his family be protected by all reasonable means.

Veterans Affairs Secretary David J. Shulkin’s chief of staff doctored an email and made false statements to create a pretext for taxpayers to cover expenses for the secretary’s wife on a 10-day trip to Europe last summer, the agency’s inspector general has found.

Vivieca Wright Simpson, VA’s third-most-senior official, altered language in an email from an aide coordinating the trip to make it appear that Shulkin was receiving an award from the Danish government, then used the award to justify paying for his wife’s travel, Inspector General Michael J. Missal said in a report released Wednesday. VA paid more than $4,300 for her airfare.

The account of how the government paid travel expenses for the secretary’s wife is one finding in an unsparing investigation that concluded that Shulkin and his staff misled agency ethics officials and the public about key details of the trip. Shulkin also improperly accepted a gift of sought-after tickets to a Wimbledon tennis match, the investigation found, and directed an aide coordinating the trip to act as what the report called a “personal travel concierge” to him and his wife.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he would sign legislation to extend DACA protections for undocumented young people in exchange for increased border security measures, adding that after that, he would be open to comprehensive immigration reform. "You guys are going to have to come up with a solution [for DACA], and I'm going to sign that solution," Trump said during a bipartisan meeting of House and Senate leaders at the White House on Tuesday morning.

"When you talk about comprehensive immigration reform, which is where I would like to get to eventually," Trump said, turning to Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill., "If we do the right bill here, we are not very far away, we've done most of it. You want to know the truth, Dick, if we do this properly, DACA, you're not so far away from comprehensive immigration reform. And if you want to take it that further step, I'll take the heat. I don't care," said Trump.

"My positions are going to be what the people in this room come up with," the president later told the press pool. "If they come to me with things I'm not in love with, I'm going to do it, because I respect them," Trump said, flanked by Durbin and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md.

Yeah. That was last month. Or last week. Or yesterday. Relying on a consistent position from President Trump is not the best play when coming up with legislation.

It would be great if the Senate and House would come up with veto-proof margins on this - but the Senate voted 54-45, so didn't clear the 60 vote hurdle. And the House was unlikely to take it up, unless it was such a Senate margin that they would be effectively forced to do so.

I read it's not even 60, 60 is to keep it from being filibustered. 2/3 of the Senate needs to agree to overturn a president's veto i think?

is it too early for you guys to form a view if The Donald will win a second term? Excuse my ignorance but is is a definite hell get an unopposed run for the Republican cause? I don't know how it works whether the president has an automatic right to fight a second term or if he has to win his party's mandate? And assuming he does - can he win again?!
