What an insane, thumb-[Poor language removed] move from such a thin-skinned moron. Is Trump's administration gonna pay the District's police/fire/cleanup crews for his tiny boner-fest?

And where will the money come from to pay for the parade itself? Tanks, artililary, troops, etc have to transported to DC. That ain't cheap.

Wasn't there a report long before he was president that the main reason they don't do parades because of narrow streets and they fear the heavy equipment will destroy the roads.

I need to find that. I don't get why there isn't push back on this.

This idiot is clueless. France only do a parade for Bastille day and they have an area designed for parades of this nature.

The other countries are the authoritarian types like Russia, China and North Korea.

Well you could also France are trying to shake the poor image they have i guess.

The reason those others do it is to be bravado. Trying to prove to the world they are ready for war.

No one thinks the US are not and know how powerful the military is here already. Whats the point?

Thin skinned egotistical nut Trump is.

Sorry I got that from the Michael Medved show the day it was all going down (conservative talk radio). That figure was the annual cost to build the wall initially so I don't think he was making a leap. The $18 bil over 10 years ($1.8 per year) came out after iirc.

The $1.6 billion was for the wall and an additional $1.2 bil was for other border security stuff. This was the bipartisan plan.

Actually @Pettifogger after doing a bit more research it appears that the $1.6 bil proposed in the bipartisan deal was exactly in line with the budget proposal that the DHS laid out. According to these articles:

https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/05/politics/border-security-billions-trump-wall/index.html

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2018/01/05/trump-border-wall-proposal/1009584001/

This firat two years of the DHS plan is for $1.6 billion each with increased costs over the last 8 years of the budget.

Here is the bipartisan plan...

Stephen Miller told him it didn’t stop enough people with brown skin from coming into the country (legally or illegally) and it didn’t put an end to a lottery system that Trump doesn’t come even CLOSE to having any understanding of.

I thought the last part addressed that. Limits it to the nuclear family which Trump does not oppose.

Sorry I was talking about chain migration.

If you read the bit above that it directly addresses the lottery system and talks about merit based.

Besides his big complaint was that he didn't get what he wanted with the wall/border security. The money allocated for FY18 was exactly in line with the DHS FY18 budget plan for the wall.

My question - which I still haven't seen answered, is why does he think he needs/should get something (particularly something so partisan as the wall) in exchange for doing something which HE claims to want anyway, Paul Ryan claims to want anyway, Mitch McConnell claims to want anyway, and ~75% of the American people want anyway?

I think the common answer his supporters will give you is that "the american people want the wall more and his campaign promise was the wall". But it has to be his plan/proposal entirely for the wall and compromise won't do... haha!!

Or some bs fluff like that.

Trump talks about bipartisan work but he has no intention of working with the democrats because if they play ball who can he blame in his daily tweets? His deep root supporters love it when he dumps on the left.

He does the GOP more harm than they care to admit.

the best hope here is that the senate can come up with something that will hit 60 votes, and if McConnell does, in fact, bring it to the floor, this might happen. Then it's all on Ryan and Trump.
I see something like a path to permanent residency for DACA people, increased border security funding and a promise to further explore legal immigration structures, being a solution that could hit 60 votes.

Problem is that the bold bit is completely untrue.
