By the way, what does 'Barbarism' mean to you? To me, it's a lack of or abnegation of culture, an out and out renouncement. Which doesn't fit at all with what we are seeing; an evolution, a development in thought; exclusive to inclusive, rejection to acceptance, hate to love. As schmaltsy and idealistic as it sounds, it's what's happening. Only the blinkered don't want to see that.

As for the Columbus monument, fair enough. Open and honest debate as to the legitimacy of the statue, which you have intimated in another post that you are ok with, then a decision made by all parties. Just shouting for it to come down doesn't make it so.

Once again, I suspect that as long as the only reason for having the statue doesn't ammount to 'Get your hands off my slaves', then it has a good chance of surviving the cull.

Stephen Colbert monologues are the silver lining of Trump's presidency... it's a laugh or cry scenario and I'm not even American. There will no doubt be boots on the ground at some point in some country and the American people have never voted out a president at war...time to change that pattern, it only encourages it.
