Trump really does have a collection of oddball lawyers

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s personal lawyer on Wednesday forwarded an email to conservative journalists, government officials and friends that echoed secessionist Civil War propaganda and declared that the group Black Lives Matter “has been totally infiltrated by terrorist groups.”

The email forwarded by John Dowd, who is leading the president’s legal team, painted the Confederate general Robert E. Lee in glowing terms and equated the South’s rebellion to that of the American Revolution against England. Its subject line — “The Information that Validates President Trump on Charlottesville” — was a reference to comments Mr. Trump made earlier this week in the aftermath of protests in the Virginia college town.

“You cannot be against General Lee and be for General Washington,” the email reads, “there literally is no difference between the two men.”

...
Mr. Almon, who is black, said in his email to Mr. Dowd that the protesters should “go back to the ghettos and do raise their children and rebuild places like Detroit.” In a telephone interview, Mr. Almon said he sent the email to follow up on a phone call he had last week with Mr. Dowd. He said had called to offer damaging information about James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, and to provide other information about the Justice Department’s ongoing investigation into the Trump campaign.

what is being ignored?

it's actually really admirable in a way that something as stupid and counterproductive as Brexit is still going to proceed, because, regardless of whether or not anybody actually understood what it would mean, a majority of people nonetheless voted for it
No body knew, because nothing like it has ever happened.
People didn't vote to leave they just voted not to be in it in from now on...tried it, didn't much like it, wasn't exactly what it said on the tin, fool me once etc.
But you can't go back, well you can but it's very hard and it'll never be the same...it never is, the genie's out of the bottle now.
The UK and The EU are now in a post Schrodinger's Cat state, before there was an, and/or/maybe...now there's just some type of Out/Not in - which knowing the British and European official inertia will be a half arsed Hokey Cokey-ish you put your whole self in, you put your whole self out, in, out, shake it all about.

One fought for the United States and one fought against the United States for God's sake. What is wrong with these people?

if Washington had lived until 1860, he would have backed the Confederacy though, no? why not?

Lee is the much more impressive General... he really took it to the North, and against insurmountable long-term odds

Washington mostly just ran away and hid (and kept the army from mutiny - no small feat, admittedly) until the French Navy showed up to win the war

Generally (boom tish!) yes but Picketts charge is a hell of a blot on his cv though.

I heart you more that you know Civ IV.
Wildly off topic but Iain MacIntosh, who once wrote a love letter to Tony Hibbert http://bet.unibet.co.uk/football/pr...ve-letter-unsung-jewel-evertons-sparkly-crown, has been taking a break from Football Manager and revisited Civ IV -
What happens when one of Football Manager’s most hapless strategists takes a break from football and applies himself to world history?

Can a man who failed so miserably with Everton perform any better when bestowed with immortality and granted complete control of an ancient society of hunter-gatherers? Will he win the space race or will he be crushed between the French and the Mongol empires? Find out now in the series that seemed like a good idea at the time but is increasingly reading like a cry for help.

The stupid that emanates from you is not unexpected because you purposely ask nonsensical questions. No one is demanding new exclusive civil rights, they are demanding that the existing ones are upheld (and Trump is eroding them, as I pointed out to you on my post on page 666), and they are also demanding that racism/discrimination end. And the track record of Civil Rights advances of this country--despite considerable violence and resistance from racists, sexists, homophobes, etc.--is actually quite impressive since the Civil war. That Obama was America's first black president is, in part, a testament to this track-record. And more specifically, to quote The Nation:

Among the promises made on civil rights, Obama pledged to fight employment discrimination, expand hate-crime laws, end racial profiling, support ex-offenders’ reentry into society, eliminate sentencing disparities, expand drug courts as an alternative to incarceration, support rights for LGBTQ individuals, and repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the Clinton-era policy that barred openly gay people from serving in the military. The administration achieved many if not all of these goals.

But you already know that. You only persist in acting like the genuinely curious interlocutor ("gee, I'm just trying to learn a few things here...can someone point me in the right direction?") to hide the fact you're nothing but a defender of a racist, sexist, xenophobic president who makes fun of disabled people. What does that make you?

You may as well put a picture of Obama as your avatar, it's about as hypocritical.

And there lies your problem. You make an assumption then project it to the nth degree culminating in an accusation of racism or suchlike. LinekersLegs posted a good article, perhaps you should read it.......

he's just a lonesome drunken WUM, and not worth your time or eloquence. if we must, let us give him at most a sentence or two

Why do you keep making personal attacks. Who are these 'we' and 'us', is it your way of saying that you are incapable of discussing a point without a gang to back you up.......try playing the ball and not the man for a change.....

I've never had the sense that you post in here in good faith, only that you're being deliberately provocative to wind people up. If that's really not the case, then I apologize.
