But see that's a complex thing here because not all votes are taken equally, due to the electoral college. This is literally the one country were you can claim your vote doesn't count depending which state you live in.

I guess that's the point of many. If you put aside the fact he won, the system here pretty much allowed him to without him being the popular and actual winner vote wise.

Trump himself complained about the electoral college saying it wasn't fair... until he won of course... then its the best thing ever...

Anyway more over Clinton lost the undecided people and the stupid leftist Sanders supporters trying to be clever by claiming "if it wasn't Sander then no one for them".

Also there were some conservative righties who voted for Obama the last time that probably switched back.

That and the Dems thought they had 95% of the Latin vote sewn up and they lost a few more of those.

Yes mate, I get how it works - but the problems don't matter when the people choose to adopt the system for voting and work with it. They then accept it as the result, as long as it works as intended.

We have the FPTP system over here - it's similarly "unfair" but it is the system we use, so the country as a whole has to stand behind the decision. Otherwise there is anarchy.

So when I say the USA elected Trump, I mean the country as a whole, because they all participated. Therefore, I don't feel sorry for the country as a whole - I only feel sorry for those who didn't vote for Trump.

The battle over Confederate statues, explained
Confederate statues have always been about white supremacy. That’s why they’re coming down

Excerpt

Why does America suddenly care so much about these old pieces of metal and stone?

The current battle actually goes back to a mass shooting in 2015, when self-described white supremacist Dylann Roof shot and killed nine people in a predominantly black church in Charleston, South Carolina. Roof drew a lot of attention for posing with the Confederate flag in images that came out after the shooting — and that helped spur a fight within South Carolina about whether it should take down a Confederate flag that had flown at the state capitol for years. The state eventually agreed to officially take down the flag (after it was unofficially taken down by activist Bree Newsome).

Since then, many cities and states, particularly in the South, have been questioning their own Confederate symbols. The argument is simple: The Confederacy fought to maintain slavery and white supremacy in the United States, and that isn’t something that the country should honor or commemorate in any way.

I don't disagree with you on accepting the result.

I agree also the system in its format is legally fair and it is what it is until such time they change it.

BUT he's had 7 months in office now and done nowt but whine like a 12 year old. He has not accomplished anything and all he does is spend his day telling us how great and smart he is and giving out about reporters or whomever is in his cross hairs that day.

After 7 months of nothing and an embarrassment i will not allow someone to patronize or convince me into "accepting" him.

First month i get it but remember the president, the leader is on the clock the minute he takes office and so needs to own it and get on with it,

To draw an analogy as a blue sure we are just as critical of koeman good or bad the minute he took the job.

Some jobs you need to hit the ground running and get things done. His party controls everything and the government is all over the place.

I get you when you say his detractors from day 1 needed to be more accepting but you know sometimes countries get leaders they know are not up to it (considering he spent his campaign bullying and spouting hate against his opposition and did not have a constructive message) and sometimes its good for them to speak out. Maybe he is the catalyst for lefties to finally wake up and be heard.

It's really this comment. All of us that didn't vote for this clown knew he was an absolute joke. This wasn't partisan politics, where we didn't like the party that was voted in. This was a situation where people were literally too stupid, or too bigoted, or both, to realize that voting for Trump was the equivalent of cutting off one's nose to spite his face.

it's an absolute shambles.

To this rather bemused observer, he seems to be making it up as he goes along.

Whilst it has a comedic quality, it is also a bit terrifying that POTUS seems to be acting like Kevin & Perry. (For the Mericans, they were a Harry Enfield/Kathy Burke creation of the two most irritating teenagers alive).

In other words, says what he wants, gets told No, then has a mega sulk and flounces off until the whole cycle repeats itself.

I'm not asking you to accept him mate! Quite the opposite in fact; I want you to rise up and impeach the idiot, as he's dangerous.

I'm saying they have to accept that they are also complicit in the system that got him there in the first place, that's all.
