Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

You'd think the whole war of words with North Korea, the media and Democrats would be enough for him to vent his spleen but no, he decides to go after his own party's Senate leader.

How this sort of broadside is meant to make McConnell more useful/helpful with either passing legislation or tamping down the Senate Russia investigation is beyond me.

@Dylan wondering if you know if North Korea does threaten Guam militarily what bases/resources does the UK (or any of the continental Europeans) have in the area?

My knowledge of UK naval capability is pretty much confined to Drake or Nelson eras which doesn't help much lol

The "sophisticated man's" version for saving face in light of supporting Trump has reared its head up.

Step 1: Pick some seemingly unassailable topic (Patriotism always works) and cling to it like a Christian single-issue voter clings to a pro-life stance.
Step 2: Bend some highly equivocal phrases from ["Clinton" "Obama" pick one] into supporting Trump regarding your single-issue pet topic from step 1.
Step 3: Ignore the fact that Trump is an indefensible, dangerously incompetent and vulgar clown who quite possibly might destroy the world.
Step 4: Step 3 notwithstanding, publicly proclaim that Trump is "better" than ["Clinton" "Obama" pick one] due to your single-issue stance in Step 2.
Step 5: Face saved; blinders intact.

Not a whole lot actually:

Diego Garcia in the IO would be the biggest. The US use it a lot as well.
They have a repair and support logistics facility in Singapore and a base in Brunei supporting Jungle Warfare courses, along with a regiment of Gurkha's and a squadron of Bell Helicopters.

Other than a small recruiting base in Nepal for the Gurkha regiment, any presence over that way is via visiting forces.

As for the wider continental Europeans....I am not sure exactly, but I would imagine France has some interests in the AO

*Here is a list!

The only real threat NK present to Guam, is purely the ICBM. Accuracy and reliability are huge question marks right now...and Guam is not a large target.

Thanks for the info about bases, so if Trump is looking for allies for a quick "show of force" statement from historical allies it is probably down to Australia and New Zealand - good job he gets on so well with both those leaders!

As thankfully unlikely as a first strike at Guam would be successful, unfortunately Seoul presents a very large and unmissable target for their conventional weapons :(

Australia......NZ's Airforce consist only of transport planes and a couple of P-3 Orions (which are sub hunters). The Navy consists of 4 obsolete frigates not suited to anything more than drug interdiction missions.

Oz land have a full Navy and Airforce capable of offensive action.

The largest artillery collection in the world!

Saipan is actually like 100 miles closer. Don't think there is military there though.

Either way I think NK would be foolish to attack.

There is nothing of strategic value on Saipan though. Guam has an Air Force base and a Navy Base. The Air Force base is capable of hosting everything in the Air Force inventory, including the B-52's.

The Naval station has 5 or 6 submarines home-ported there, and it is a vital staging area providing easy resupply to the fleet in that area.

Guam will likely be the staging point for the Navy and Airforce to commence their portion of an attack on NK.

North Korea would be foolish to attack. On May 30th, the US successfully tested the GMD system and intercepted and destroyed an ICBM launched from the Kwajalein Atoll. The interceptor was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The separation at launch was 4200 miles.

No Saipan doesn't. It's smaller but closer. It would be slightly less antagonistic while proving a point. An actual attack on Guam and it's military would 200% receive max retribution. I reckon most Americans haven't even heard of Saipan. Or what about one of the smaller American islands in the Northern Marianas?

Would it make a point for them to successfully launch and hit an uninhabited island there?

FWIW I saw a rocket launch from Vandenberg one night driving up 101. I have no idea what level was launched...it didn't make the press.

Hahahaha......
WTF is wrong with you? Were you not getting anywhere in the EU in or not thread, that you had to come into one about Trump, make wild statements you cannot or could not back up, just to bait our American friends and fellow blues?

Now you seem to be condoning North Korea idea of destroying Guam and hoping the NATO and UN allies ignore it (not EU friends by the way) because they all suddenly hate the US?

The EU or European allies in the UN and NATO need the US so if North Korea does do something stupid they will assist if needed. 100% even Britain will help out.

Keep your own hate to yourself and stop trying to pretend the rest of our fellow Europeans agree with you.

And again the EU and UN and NATO are all separate organisations you know that right?

Calm down.....

So Trump's 'fire and fury' is just a revamped 'shock and awe' which did end well in Iraq. I assume that he will just obliterate North Korea from the face of the earth so as not to invade the country would be a disaster. I also assume that Trump is relying on the North Koreans to do nothing and allow their country to be obliterated.

Trump is just following what the US has done since probably the 1900's - draw up plans to attack countries it doesn't like. Nothing unusual about Trump rhetoric as it is par for the course for US presidents, which would indicate he will act on his rhetoric as he is backing himself into a corner. This will not end well for the US - as it didn't in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. or the Korean peninsula and will drag China into the mix. It's going to be a very hot summer and autumn.

Will be interesting to see when the Tories start banging the anti North Korean war drum.
