Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

If you were the President of the USA and some North Korean nut job kept threatening to deliver nuclear holocaust to the USA, you really would not be that bothered about removing said nutter and his people. If the USA had delivered this message twenty years ago perhaps we would not be wondering what is going to happen. For my money I think Trump will not duck this issue, and I think his military know that they cannot delay much further, one way or another it has to be resolved this year....
We survived the Cold War, several nut job leaders of the Soviet Union and nukes about 100 miles off of our shores in Cuba. FAR more threatening than the latest Kim nutter in S Korea.

Yeah, I think we Yanks would be quite bothered by a POTUS who obliterated an entire country because its leader talked a lot of trash.

Latest......

"North Korea says it is "carefully examining" a plan to strike the US territory of Guam with missiles.

The threat came hours after President Donald Trump told Pyongyang that any threat to the US would be met with "fire and fury".

A spokesman for the Korean People's Army said the strike plan will be "put into practice in a multi-current and consecutive way any moment" once Kim Jong Un makes a decision.

KCNA, Pyongyang's state-run news agency, also carried a statement from a different military official which said North Korea may carry out a pre-emptive operation if the US shows signs of provocation."

This is all bluster of course, but the USA can only assume this for so long. This guy really is signing his and his country's death warrant.........

The difference with the Cold War was that it was between two equally powerful nuclear powers. This is between some insignificant nutter who can wipe out Chicago and the USA who can just wipe him and his country out before that happens...

You cannot be serious.

He's not really, he's just drunkenly WUMming

To be clear - setting aside the horrific loss of life even attempting this would incur, there is no way the United States can guarantee that it would be able eliminate all of North Korea's nuclear weapons in a preliminary strike, much less its thousands of pieces of almost equally deadly conventional artillery. Nuclear weapons are kept underground, or on moving delivery systems, for precisely this reason. You might get lucky and take out one or two, but not all. They have not invested decades into developing them without it having occurred to them how to keep their deterrent safe. Even the Trump (!) military command realises this, and they've more or less stated so publicly on many occasions.

Anyone who states otherwise is bullsh+tting and fantasizing - lest someone reading the above exchange confuse for this a reality-based discussion.

I still don't really think anything will actually happen... but in a way this is far more dangerous than the Cuban Missile Crisis was, though still much further from the brink, simply because we know so much less about North Korea. But, needless to say, while everyone sentient on the planet has long since realized that the 'Leader of the Free World' is a lazy, ignorant, childish, oaf, his twitter flailing runs the risk of being legitimately misinterpreted in Pyongyang.

And he is completely out of control. His own generals were sincerely worried that what became the transgender "ban" (ie legally meaningless tweet) was actually going to have been him declaring war on someone via the internet.

While you agonise over a transgender ban, Trump and his Generals really do have to decide what to do to sort out North Korea. The option of kicking it into the long grass has now passed. They now have a few, not many, nuclear devices, it will only get worse the longer they delay. Decisions will have to be made and acted upon. Tonight's threat against Guam really doesn't help........

After all, a pre-emptive American attack would very likely fail to wipe out North Korea’s arsenal, because some of the North’s facilities are deep in mountain caves or underground and many of its missiles are hidden on mobile launchers.

Hi! I am not here on pete's side or Trump in general (my posting history can easily confirm this) I am just here to clear up misconceptions.

Facilities deep in mountains are no problem at all. The SLBM MIRV's are designed to cope with that. The basic doctrine is the first MIRV penetrates before detonating, followed by a second MIRV a few blinks later for hardened, buried target destruction.

They have nuclear subs and all.

No they do not. Their fleet is diesel electric. Old and loud. One is barely outfitted to launch a SLBM, but that would not be any sort of threat to anybody. In the event of hostilities, it would be removed from the board quite effortlessly.

Thanks. I'm still new around these parts so did not want to offend.

They are not his Generals. He is an elected 'official' Those Generals have served since at least Clinton's administration.

there's nothing to agonise over. it was a tweet, not a ban.

completely agree with you there.
