Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Good post. I already found this via a post I publish below, abe. I recommend that everybody read your Grauniad link at least twice. Lots of anthropology going on here.

It’s almost as if the reporter looked at this assignment as if it were an adventure into the deep jungle. Note the unnamed “observer” who editorializes:

“Observers wonder when “these people” will wake up and realize that Trump does not have their interests at heart. But rural folks have gotten used to a system that does not have their interests at heart.”

Well, gosh, when the political establishment keeps calling half the country stupid or “deplorable” it’s little wonder they’ll vote for any alternative. And it’s a safe bet if a writer referred to “these people” in the context of discussing LGBT or race issues, there’d be hell to pay. Lesson to be learned:
this is why there is an Electoral College, though these days the Democrats would prefer that elections were held only in DC, NYC and Malibu.

Very good article.

I find it interesting, when you read and hear the views of rural living folk (and its noted in is article as well), they tend to blame corporate CEO's and government. They accuse or suggest the democrats always want more regulations, laws and more government which they blame on their town dying off, yet the openly support a party which is all about handing everything off to private industry and removing legislation to allow corporations to get away with more.

How they think that leads to a better future for their town is mad.

But that's also not to diminish how both parties have failed the rural parts of America and how Trump swept them up with his audacious promises.

Is that ^ your comment?

She's not a reporter. This is probably from one of her books
https://faculty.polisci.wisc.edu/kwalsh2/

She grew up in exactly the sort of place she writes about.

this is also perhaps relevant, for next time

Mad isn't it. I have a lot of friends who live in rural Wisconsin and who are democrats. They would have preferred Sanders. I also have few who are Republicans. Obviously the democrats had a hard time voting because they did not want Hilary but like everyone else they refused to vote for Trump.

Thing is Clinton should have never ignored that state. If she had any sense she would have gone there and brought Bernie with her to help her.

I love it when folks like that try to almost blame the left for Trump's election. You voted for him...live with your mistake...I know I am.

Not my script. That's the comment accompanying the link I found earlier. However, there's a "Margaret Mead in the Pacific" quality to much that is written on this line, especially from those overseas. There was one a few years ago written from an Olive Garden in Hoover, AL that comes to mind, but...

I wanted to highlight the reference to the Electoral College. The rural folks and small state folks are very attached to that Electoral College thing.

I'm in a medium-large city in a big state, but I can see their point. Lots of my loved ones are in small towns in a smallish state. Without it, they truly are without representation and they are painfully aware of that.

serious question: does the right do investigative pieces like this? ie: thoughtful, empathetic, striving for impartiality? god knows they have the money to.

I would love to read them, if there are any. but it seems like 95%+ percent of what conservative "news" outlets produce is actually just opinion.

do tell me if I'm wrong.

do you have the Olive Garden piece link, btw?

This to me is one of the issues with the news groups and why its easier for Trump to accuse most of it as lies. He knows bloody well how much work central views and leftist views Journos put into their work. Otherwise he would not have attempted to gag or sue them over the years.

When i discuss (well argue) politics with my friends who support the right i always pose that question to them and never get a response.

I have always thought the leftist media did more of this and also was fairer with their opinions also. Now that's not to say they are not sometimes biased also.

A prime example would be MSNBC and Fox. Both biased of their respective base camps. Both likened to each other but really are they? As much as MSNBC can be biased at least they hire conservative hosts. 4 of the 8 they have support the republicans. They also give air time to people with conservative views. Fox on the other hand not so much.

The media on the right seems to be exactly what you say "opinions" and well their attempt at investigations is always about the dems or something to do with an ongoing situation in the middle east or gun control but not much effort is put into the other view.

I too support the Electoral College because of concerns about how a majority can ignore the wishes and input of a minority.

Which is precisely why the House and Senate healthcare bills are an abomination. No input at all from the representatives of millions of poeple by avoiding the usual process rules - no committee discussion, no public hearings, no amendments, heck there night not even be time to read the bill before voting. It is a complete travesty.

I can't disagree. That's how business is done now. Is it any wonder people oppose giving them even more power?
