Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

I wouldn't impersonate Trump if I was him. Not in public. Nothing related to delivery or dialogue, but without a good security scrub, somebody might arm up and get confused these days. From a distance he looks orange enough to serve as a target.

All it takes is one disturbed, armed, confused individual who wants to rid the world of this inconvenient man. By now, I'm not really thinking in terms of if, but more in terms of when. In a world of infinite possibilities the worst scenario is one glaring possibility.

Today's metaphor: We're driving through an unexpectedly long stretch of desert, and we're just realizing that we're really low on fuel, food, and water, and night is starting to fall.

Plus, we're too far into it to turn back at this stage.

Aye, makes me worried too and one reason I'm surprised that Trump goes to his own golf courses in such a predicable manner as they must be a security nightmare for the Secret Service.

They have a difficult job at the best of times given how much more likely that someone will make an attempt on a US president compared to senior politicians in other countries like the UK - Johnson was the only one out of the most recent presidents that didn't have at least one known attempt.

They need to stop putting that crackpot on TV, inviting him to events and well paying attention to him. Out of all of the right wing crackpots hes right up there with the craziest of them.

Even his comments on Fox about the shooting the other day were embarrassing for the right so much so the Fox presenter tried to shut him down or at least tell him to tone it back.
Ah yes, Newt Gingrich.. king of the hypocrites.

Anything could happen, of course, but I suspect the President is probably out of the reach of the typical deranged lone gunman these days. The Secret Service was put through an unprecedented test during the Obama years. There were apparently dramatic spikes in online threats any time Sarah Palin gave a speech during the 08 campaign, for instance, and a fairly constant stream thereafter.

Congress is a different possibility though... there's only so much security forces can do there, given the numbers. If the town halls are anything to go by, there are a lot of angry people these days, and that's before they have their health care taken away.

Still, for context, it's always instructive to re-read about the 1960s - the Kerner Report, or the Walker report, for instance. Or for something livelier, Rick Perlstein. We've still got a long, long way to go to match those times, thank god.

That's the thing, abe... There's a whole lot of heat out there looking for a heat sink. We're not as far from 1968 as we'd like to think. Right now, Trump = Nixon. 1968 without assassinations would be a huge improvement over what we got back then.

If something doesn't channel the heat to a safe location, a lot of people are going to get burned. That's not good for anybody. Tinder is everywhere, and I'm not talking about getting laid via some phone app. Rumors are rife on the right that Palin is lawyering up to sue the NYT over their twice-corrected editorial post-Hodgkinson tying his actions to the Giffords tragedy and Palin. It'll be good for the brand, many say.

That's an opportunity the Times didn't have to create, but they couldn't help themselves, as that's the only thing they were equipped to see. My advise is to deal with Palin by ignoring her. Every time there's violence from the left, somebody brings her name up and points to Gabby Giffords. A classic own goal situation.

With the assassination attempt on Scalise and the others, we've picked up the salad bowls and delivered the entrees to the table. I hope we're all still here when we get to dessert.
