This was top drawer trolling by Putin. He took a pop at the administration and at Comey all in one sweeping statement.

Err, think you misunderstanding Finn, all they are doing is suing under the Freedom of Information Act for FBI to release the memos. They are not suggesting that Comey's lying under oath, just that they would like to see the full memo's rather than the snippets that Comey described. And what is the harm in that, all of the meat of the documents is already in the public sphere?
Basically they want the FBI to be as free with the Comey memos as Wikileaks was with DNC internal documentation which you were very supportive of

Tbf it is what any sensible person would do given the environment irrespective of whether they knew anything.
But intriguingly the lawyer he has hired is a good quality one, who is godfather to one of Comey's kids and Trump's own personal lawyer advised WH staff that it wasn't time to get legal advice.
