Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

I've heard McConnell, there do seem to be a few who are already raising concerns over this . Can only hope it's more than a trickle .

On the special prosecutor/independent commission line , obviously im in U.K. So clearly not as familiar with it as yourself . It seemed the only option to me but I've just heard a former Clinton aide Simon Rosenberg bring scathing about Trump but raising similar concerns to McConnell saying that it could then take up to three years to resolve .
Tbh there are concerns with setting them up and in general I'd prefer to avoid them.

However Nunes seems to have corrupted the House investigation, Comey firing taints the FBI one (unless Trump makes an unusually unbiased replacement) so the only investigation with any current appearance of impartiality is the Senate one...so a whole lot of pressure on it.

Thanks , To be honest that was my reading of the situation , certainly dragging it out wouldn't be helpful though .

The appointment as you say will be huge and has to be bipartisan but then again ...

And if the report below is true makes it even harder to believe that Comey's firing was just a longstanding issue with the way he handled the Clinton investigation as they are remarkable coincidences...

Let's be fair here, the Democrats have done nothing but complain about Comey, until of course Trump fired him, then he became a saint. Trump should pick three potential Directors and then let the Democrats pick the final person. Faux outrage over all of this is doing no one any good........

Completely disagree Pete. FBI directors are given a 10 year term specifically so they are not subject to the wims of politicians - the only other one fired was after a 6 month investigation into his misuse of public funds.

The reasons that Trump gave for the firing, his handling of Clinton's emails, are nominally legitimate - but it is implausible at best that Trump or Sessions actually agree with them as both are on record multiple times supporting those actions.

And if they were convinced his handling of the emails was incorrect that information was available last year, certainly in January when he was inaugurated, why wait till May? And those actions were being already subject to an investigation by the DOJ, why not wait for that report to come out? And why the headlong rush to fire him that couldn't even wait for Comey to get back from LA and set up proper communication strategy around it?

And all that doesn't even touch on the fact that firing a guy that is in charge of an investigation into you looks as dodgy as hell.

"Let's be fair here" it is an absolute joke that trump has sacked the FBI Director midway through an active investigation, lied about the reasons, and is then going to get to appoint the guy who will lead the investigation into... Trump and his associates.

And what good is picking from 3 supposed to do, when he gets to pick the three??

Seen that being spouted by quite a number of Trump supporters. Don't be so obtuse.

The reasons they gave were completely reverse engineered. The justice department moves painfully slowly and deliberately.

And yet in this instance, were supposed to believe that in the TWO WEEKS since he was appointed, the new Deputy Attorney General took it upon himself to conduct an exhaustive inquiry into Comey's handling of the Clinton investigation.

We're also supposed to believe that he then wrote a letter with his findings to Sessions, and that Sessions on the very same day wrote a letter of his own to Trump.

AND that Trump then on that very same day acted and fired Comey.

It's an absolute joke.

Yet it took them 18 days to fire Flynn after being informed, by the DOJ no less, that he was compromised. Not just doing a bad job mind, compromised by Russia.

There's a four-letter word that those Twitter fascists use a lot to insult people... I don't think it can be used here, but it fits everyone in the GOP meekly calling this "troubling" or going full Rubio and trying to pretend this isn't happening.
