Ridiculous hyperbole. Guess years of colonial rule, slave trading, illegal wars, suez, etc etc. are not as bad as weighing into a war we have no right to be part of and no way of controlling.
This is all over the place, hard to make a sensible reply. Sounds to me like the ramblings of the demented remnants of the Militant Tendency which came within an inch of reducing the City of Liverpool to the status of a Third World country.

Possibly the most shameful event in the history of British politics. The day when Labour and the Libdems combined to defeat the motion to take military action against Assad. Thousands of innocent people killed and maimed as a result leading to the gas/chemical attack last week on hundreds of civilians.

Let's dispense with the hypocritical "we care about innocent people being murdered" bullsh1t. Everyone--you, me, political parties, governments, religions, pick and choose who they care for and who they conveniently ignore. This applies here. Using some transparent moral high-ground to pretend you care about the fate of the Syrians based on your politics--who by the way, are seeking asylum in your country (and mine, USA)--is shameful. Do you welcome Syrian refugees in your country? You can do so by voting with the political parties that supports their welcome. Or not. So how did you vote and/or support the fate of these people that you proclaim to care about?

I think that's the key for me , is the concern consistent and genuine . Trump's Yemen mission is reported to have killed seven children and he's banned Syrian refugees but he's so troubled by 'dead Syrian babies ' he's had to act , that seems massively inconsistent to me.

I won't lie I'm conflicted, I think the murderding of children is clearly something that there should be a reaction to , that if you do it as a government there should be repercussions . However the policies of the west in that region should have taught us one thing , that action without a plan is considerably worse that inaction. The repercussions of acting without a long term strategy in Afghanistan, Iraq & Libya are there for us all to see and are effectively being played out in this very arena where Trump has just launched his missiles.

I've been brought up in my life to believe you don't stand idly by and watch the weak suffer at the hands of the strong but the west's flip flopping on it's tactics not to mention that Trump himself doesn't seem to have any idea what he thinks he should be doing doesn't fill me with confidence that this is the first step in a 'new plan' . I think Assad should pay for what he's done , as should many others by the way , but if you act in haste you repent at leisure.
