And your response is crystal clear as to why, again, the left in this country is going to be out of power for quite awhile. Rather than address Democrat shortcomings as the author did and how the Democrats might find their way back into winning elections at the federal and state levels, you went on a rant as to the messenger rather than the message itself.

2018 is frankly going to be even worse for the Democrats than 2016 was and this proves it. Best wishes.

  • Linda Preast has used a wheelchair since she had a stroke two years ago and now relies on Meals on Wheels, a service that provides food to millions of people with disabilities and the elderly. The 56-year-old Georgia resident never envisioned when she voted for President Donald Trump that he’d propose slashing funding for the programs.

“Are you surprised?” CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller asked Preast at her home in Jones County Saturday.

“Yeah,” Preast said. “Because he was told ― I was under the influence that he was going to help us.”

On Thursday, White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney attacked the service, saying programs like Meals on Wheels “are just not showing any results.”

“We can’t do that anymore,” Mulvaney said. “We can’t spend money on programs just because they sound good. And Meals on Wheels sounds great.”

The statements followed the Trump administration’s recent budget proposal, which would give $54 billion to the U.S. military while decimating funding for federal programs including the Environmental Protection Agency, the State Department and the Education Department.

Jenny Bertolette, vice president of communications for Meals on Wheels America, told The Huffington Post that the program is already struggling to meet the needs of the hungry.

“The scary thing about that is that funding is already not keeping up with pace,” Bertolette said. “There are already demands that we can’t meet. There is already a waitlist crisis... If this budget was enacted, it would obviously just make matters so much worse.”

Bertolette said since Mulvaney’s comments, Meals on Wheels has seen a 500 percent increase in volunteers and a 50 percent increase in online donations.

“What would you say to him to convince him not to cut this program?” Miller asked Preast.

“What if it was your momma?” Preast said.

I know this doesn't reflect well on me but I just don't feel any sympathy for people like this. You were dumb enough to vote for him, now you get to suffer the consequences.

Whats TDS? Okay yes, The Democrats need a plan. Well they won't need one if Trump keeps dividing his own party and supporters.

I'd suggest starting a thread about them though, because this one is about Donald Trump. POTUS.

And as a card carrying Reblicano you should be in here telling us why he's doing what he's doing. Explaining stuff to us. Why does he still need rallies? Wheres the evidence of Wire Tapping? Comey was so quick to tar Clinton yet so silent when it comes to Trump. Do you not find this strange? Plenty of GOP Senators do. So many questions but no answers.

The regressive side of the left had a lot to do with Trump winning in the first place in all honesty

Their ferocity only caused to embolden those who were thinking of voting Trump to go all the way and actually do it, because they were angered with all the name calling and aggression just because they were sick of the status quo and wanted to vote for the anti-establishment candidate

I mean, a lot of people thought that voting for Trump, an old rich white guy, was actually a way for them to "stick it to the man"

That's just madness but is a core reason why he won, and The Democrats needs to wake up to that uncomfortable truth. The regressive elements of their support played a part in their defeat

Before you ask, yes, I have been watching a lot of Dave Rubin recently

I not only read it, I read the one it was linked to, and I quoted from it, addressing it point by point. But TX_Bill just chooses to play his little quitter/hurt-feelings game: you only want to vilify conservatives. I don't have a problem with conservatives. I have a problem with Trump supporters who chose to overlook that their president is an on-record racist.

From what I can see, The Democrats are far too focused on bashing Trump than they are on actually looking at why they lost and actually trying to make changes so they address the reasons for that loss

There needs to be some serious introspection going on in that party, especially as to why they put the most establishment of establishment candidates in Hilary up against the most maverick of maverick candidates in Trump when it was clear people were getting sick of the status quo and being talked down to. Sanders may also had lost, but at least he actually had something about him that wasn't just "more of the same"

Until The Democrats address their own issues, they aren't going to win another election any time soon, because Trump supporters have shown themselves to be, if anything, very stubborn in their backing and I'm not convinced he'll do enough damage on his own to turn the swing voters against him, The Democrats will need something about them as well

Republicans will be loving this right now. The Democrats are going to complain and complain until it just becomes white noise. At some point, they're going to have to have a massive shake up and a purge of the regressive amongst their ranks
