Reagan, Bush 2, Jimmy Carter, Clinton !!!!!!!!
Well at least they were politicians.

EO's don't have to be shambolic, depend on the level of briefings/notice that are given.
I think that even if you support this EO, which I don't, you could major reservations on how it was implemented - Sunday show spokepeople have said it was issued quickly to "surprise" terrorists but doing it late on a Friday with no detailed briefing/input of any of the agencies that apply it has surprised everyone including allies. Not to mention the ad hoc way people with valid visas including permanent residents have been treated.
In a sort of weird way, you have to admire how Trumpy is getting on with doing the things he said he would prior to his election.
Perhaps the voters who ticked his box thought he wouldn't?

I think they knew what they were getting........
Israel does then same in reverse and always has done. I know Irish passport holders who have not been allowed into Israel after being in Iran. These are a acredited journalists.
If you have visited Israel and had a stamp in your passport, you will not be allowed to enter Iran or many other Arab countries. Most business people have two passports for this very reason......can't remember any marches or twittersphere outrage.....but I would love to hear people's views on this.......
I don't think ANYONE knew what we were getting and sort of hoped that he would mellow in to a statesman once he won.
Ah well in the immortal words of Kenny Everett: Let's bomb Russia
(in for a penny & all that)
Seems like a bizarre comparison to make. As far as I know, many of those Arab nations don't have a legacy of open-door/welcoming to immigrants (google "statue of Liberty"). And besides the issue is that the US, in 1965, put forth a new immigration law (Hart-Celler act) that barred the US from restricting immigration based on country alone, correcting the horrible immigration-quota laws in 1921, which had horrific consequences for non-Northern European citizens. But Trump has reversed the policy from 1965, and to boot his policy seems quite self-serving and illogical (as noted a few times in this thread) since it seems to be based more on his own business interests and not national interests (which is how presidents are allowed to execute EOs regarding immigration).
And as you know, the more general issue isn't that Trump has made one bad policy decision. That's not the case at all. Instead, the "twittersphere outrage" and "marches" to which you refer is due to an empirically documented track-record of his horrifically sexist, racist, exclusionary, narcissistic, self-serving behaviors and policies over both the election season and also his first week in office.
My comparison was just to point out that the current outrage is not applied evenly in respect of immigration. Your other point about not liking Trump is perfectly valid but seems to be based on you not liking Trump..........
Err so because I don't condemn the immigration policy of every other nation on earth I can't be upset about the immigration policy of the US, the country I live in and whose immigration process I have been through myself ???My comparison was just to point out that the current outrage is not applied evenly in respect of immigration. From the limited information I have I think Japan's immigration policy is pretty awful but not quite sure what relevance it has to a Trump thread.
I would like Trump if he behaved in a manner worth liking. Same goes for any politician.
But as I mentioned before, his track-record of behavior is beyond execrable, and it actually boggles my mind how anyone could defend it (e.g., do folks actually tell their daughters that 'grab 'em by the [Poor language removed]' was harmless locker room talk?).
