If the judge was green and the defendant was orange ( lol )...

...the judge hated everything about the orange person. The way he looked, the way he spoke, his friends, the way he does business, all his beliefs...hated the very essence of the orange person.

The trial was not driven by anyone or anything but his green friends. All of his green friends that he would see at partys and events for many years to come.

How could he hold his head up high if the orange man was found innocent?

This is what Biden is now up against. Here Trump is playing the macho, unrepentant martyr. Trump is making personal and political capital out of his conviction. Can Dems counteract this? Sure, but it's an added element of uncertainty in an already uncertain campaign.

Exactly. Trump is absolutely petrified of any situation where he doesn't automatically have the power over everyone else in the room. It's laughable that anybody thought he'd take the stand in his own defence, subject to being cross examined by a hostile prosecutor under threat of perjury. For a man who protests his innocence so vehemently through the lens of his own social media, he apparently had nothing to say under pressure, when it would have actually counted, and ran away from the prosecutors back to friendly media interviews where he could complain again about how unfair it all is.

His base imo is now far more energised than the Dem base. I think indies are marginally more likely to vote for him after this verdict. If he's imprisoned then I think he gets the sympathy vote from many more independents. Imagine a p**sy grabbing, billionaire felon getting the sympathy vote from ordinary voters. Yet that's where we are probably headed in this race.

Politics is about show just as much as it is about substance. I mean to be President you at least have to look and act like a potential President. It's why Lori Lightfoot would never become President even if she were the only candidate running.
