You are and remain an idiot. This has nothing to do with Right or Left wings, for me it’s ensuring the USA maintains its standing in the World and at the moment every sensible person can see it’s reputation being destroyed by politicised Lawfare. Putin and co must be laughing their socks off by these actions, allowing despots to claim the moral high ground. How could the USA now possibly criticise Putin for his court actions against political opponents. Answers on a postage stamp…….

Pete he is a rapist, he paid hush money to a porn actress, found guilty of both, he lied and didn't pay all his taxes while ordinary Americans paid there's and he called it smart, the man is a despicable grifter and the man deserves jailing for his crimes. Or do you think he's innocent or should be just let off ? It seems if you're rich and right wing you must be above the law with you and your kind alike. Do you agree ? Answers on the forum please.

Perhaps if the GOP didn’t continually nominate a rapist crook then we might be not have the multiple trials?

I mean your implied suggestion that Trump is just an innocent man and it is all just political lawfare strains credulity. Did he just happen to choose a bunch of crooks to pal around with?

I mean are you claiming this just happened without his knowledge ?

I have never implied he is an innocent man and have absolutely no understanding nor opinion of whatever charges he faces. Prosecute by all means but for gods sake do it in a manner that doesn’t show up a partisan and tribalistic view of American justice. The eyes of the world are on this and it’s not a pretty sight…..

If you have no understanding nor opinion of the charges he faces why do you think it is partisan and tribalistic to charge him? What specifically should be changed to make it a “prettier sight?”

I’ve honestly no idea on his guilt or not and am not defending him. I think you are all missing my point. Alexie Navalny was imprisoned in Russia for embezzlement and was then loaded up with additional charges and sentences. Neither you nor I had any idea if he was guilty or not. We suspect not, but the world just saw Putin getting rid of a potential threat and it stank of political bias. I suspect neither you nor I would know if Trump is guilty or not, he probably is, but the USA have done this in a way that looks to the outsider no different than what Putin had done. Doing it into the run up to the election just makes it look worse….

Can a convicted felon vote in a GE ?
My "no" answer to this question was not accurate.

Trump is registered to vote in Florida. Florida law is that the voting status of a FL voter convicted of a felony in another state is governed by the law of that state.

According to NY law, convicted felons cannot vote while in prison, but can vote if not sentenced to prison, on parole, on probation, on suspended sentence, or after serving time. So that governs his status in FL.

Trump's sentencing hearing is July 11. If not sentenced to prison immediately he can vote. If he is sentenced to do time, a sentence might not start right away, he might have to report to prison in 30 days or whatever. In any event, if he appeals, and he will, he may not have to serve time right away while the appeal is pending.

So the likelihood that he will be behind bars on Election Day in November* is low, and if not he can vote.

*At least on this charge. Trump's legal team and his allies in the federal judiciary have succeeded in parking the bus on his federal criminal charges re: January 6 and the classifed-documents theft, and the Georgia election-interference matter has been delayed by the District Attorney's own-goal - an affair with the special prosecutor in the Trump matter that caused her impartiality to be questioned.

That's so only if you haven't read the news, or if you've consumed only Fox and the like.

I believe that if you read the charges, read the transcripts of the trial, and reviewed the commentary of legal observers, you'd find that the charges and the trial were fair, and the verdict deserved.

Incentives to act legally and ethically would be perverted if one could *engage in illegal conduct so as to skew the outcome of an election* and then claim that prosecution should be stayed due to another upcoming election.

Declining to prosecute because the alleged criminal is a candidate for office, is no morally or legally different than prosecuting just-because he is a candidate for office.
