Russia top dog in the Middle East, China setting up bases around the world, Syria a basket case, Obama's bezzie mate being a woman who opened the immigrant floodgates into Europe....the successes just go on and on.....

Like any of that would be much different under your idiot savant prez-hero, Pete.

That's the irony of the rust belt. Those union workers earned extortionist wages due to their union affiliation that was meant to protect their jobs.

The even crueler irony is they did it to themselves over and over again. Even now they vote for leaders who destroy unions, shred the economic safety net, and rally them against anyone fortunate enough to still have those protections (mostly teachers and civil servants).

I suppose this is mean of me, but I won't feel a bit of pity for their continued suffering. They've gone and endangered everyone else because they couldn't see what was really happening to them.

He didn't get everything right...but he certainly did a helluva lot better than folks here on the right would have you believe domestically.

I don't think America has done very well under any president with regards to the Middle East.

NEA about the immigrants.

Despite me being a Brexit voter I agree with you about the immigrants. I'm NEA too...

About America "not doing well under any president with regards to the Middle East" though, you make it seem like a passive thing that just happened rather than the presidents having some control over it (which IMO they did).

First rule should be "do no harm". Then, if you can "do some good".

The presidents failed on the first rule with respect to their international and middle east policies IMO

Wait, what?

So the freedom of movement can remain?

Of course you are

What's that supposed to mean? Are you doubting that? Check all my posts in the Brexit thread if you doubt that and find anything in the Trump (who I would never have voted for by the way) thread where you can show that I have right wing views (if that is what you are suggesting) rather than just wanting to give him a chance or being attracted by his economic protectionism that has some connections with socialism.

I may have misinterpreted the tone of your post but if I haven't, please don't slander me. I could give you left wing reasons for Brexit all day long (and have on the closed Brexit Thread).

Sorry if I seem over sensitive but it is not very pleasant having my views misinterpreted (though I am fine with you or anyone disagreeing with them)

The rise of Chinese dominance in terms bases, economic support of other nations, etc., was predominantly due to the US invasion/obsessive preocuppation with Iraq/Afghanistan during the Bush years. We turned our heads, and while we were knee-deep in Iraq/Afghanistan we failed to notice the massive Chinese influence in Brazil, among other places (e.g., Indian Ocean, Madagascar and many other African nations). Some folks (though I don't know enough about the causes and am skeptical of the arguments until I know more), even trace hints of Syria's destabilization to the Arab Spring, the latter of which is linked to the Iraq invasion--another Bush legacy. More generally, every administration inherits domestic and international problems. But in your post you are pointing out foreign policy blunders, while the tweet you quote is all domestic. It will be interesting to actually see if Trump is able to further improve on what is claimed (and attributed to Obama) in that tweet.
