Interesting in comparing the Trump regime to Nazi Germany. I do not think that is quite what he was after. I think he wanted an authoritarian rule like a Putin or Kim. I don't think he cared what the these right wing groups did but he used them to get support for him and tried to take advantage of any support he got. His ultimate goal was to win this election desperately and then he would have aggressively pushed Ivanka to follow him and in that period would have tried to change the rules to suit his family more. In the end he did not care for anyone in the United States except for his own family and close allies.

He definitely did, but I think a lack of overarching long term goals is what sets Trump aside from other fascist leaders. He didn’t appear to want power to subjugate some group of “others”, he really just seemed to want power for power’s sake. Also maybe to use that position to help his personal business ventures.

That's not all the way true though is it? Even if he didn't personally hate immigrants the way Bannon or Miller did he was always fine with them doing some truly deplorable things to keep them on his side.

For sure. His insatiable need for praise is what I initially saw as so dangerous about him, even before he got elected. All you had to do was say nice things about him, and he didn’t care how unconscionable your actions might have been. That thread carried all the way through the end of his term, as evidenced by his refusal to disavow the Proud Boys and Capitol insurrectionists.

Probably didn't clarify that well. Of course Hitler did but he had further motives of genocide etc. Not sure that was Trumps goal but he wanted the authoritarian rule however it happened.
A part of my family lived the Hitler rule and it was not pleasant even if you were a German.

Exactly this. That was part of my point. If you supported him, he did not care what you were and what you did as long as you supported him.
“These people don’t like what’s going on in Chicago” but they were perfectly fine when the murder rates there were spiralling out of control or when CPD shot a black man 16 times (the majority of these while he was already collapsed on the floor) there. Trump’s a disgusting man who gave a lot of other disgusting men around the world the blueprint to gain power (Salvini, Bolsanaro, Duda, Johnson etc)

Failing to convict Trump is a danger to the future of our democracy but it seems Republicans don't care about holding Trump accountable.
Why I worry about America is because this shouldn't have to be explained or argued. If trump is cleared, any future president can and will abuse the 2 months between the election and hand-over with no consequence.
