That’s actually not a bad idea. Was talking to a military friend of mine who had a high level clearance at one point, and he talked like there was absolutely no way under normal circumstances that Trump would have qualified to see classified information given his history of bankruptcies and massive amounts of foreign-held debt.
Trump and some of these QAnon lunatics may have not received clearance if such a system was in placed. It just makes no sense that anyone can be elected to office, no criminal record, no special education, no security clearance, no mental health assessment. There are only 3 requirements listed in the constitution
All house members must be at least 25 years old, and Senate members must be at least 30 years old.
House members should have been a U.S. citizen for at least seven years, and Senate members should have been a U.S. citizen for at least nine years.
The candidate should be an “inhabitant” of the state “when elected.”
While the founding fathers didn't put anymore requirements that's doesn't mean democracies should stop evolving. Democracy needs for the right to run is by no means settled and this the perfect moment in history to make changes, although I'm not hopeful for such changes to take place anytime soon. But it is unfortunate because holding a Federal Office is a privilege and only those who meet certain qualifications, and have the best plans for the public, should be eligible to run for office.
