Unfortunately I have no faith in Republicans, it is them who allowed Trump to happen and enable this monster to make a mess of our democracy. Nonetheless, hopefully some of them will have the conscious and courage to stand up for their nation and if the GOP doesn't support their posture then maybe it is time for the Republican party to break into two different parties.

Sadly I think you are correct but even if it has come too late to stop something happening, hopefully it will make it less extreme. A lot of these people aren't very intelligent so fingers crossed they will struggle to organise themselves now.

I was chatting with my friend @UptheTofees and when he heard my concerns he reminded me that these people are stupid enough that they are posting their plans online so hopefully our intelligence agencies are in top of any plans they may have.

He used to be in the Navy and also mentioned that his buddies there told him that there is extra military activity happening right now. So it gives me comfort to hear our military is preparing for whatever mayhem happens the next few days, weeks.

The problem is that those who aren't extreme right wing are passive. They are allowing it to happen under the belief that "everything will be ok". Not all Germans were nazi murderers, but it was their willingness to let it happen and go with the flow that allowed it to thrive.

America is at the precipice and if it doesn't reverse its course, the will be decades of fallout. Unfortunately, I think Rapinoe hit the nail on the head. This is the real America coming to the fore.

I am in total agreement with you. Some americans live in this bubble where they think our democracy is invulnerable but as a person that grew up in Latin America during dictatorships (supported by the US government) I can see the dangers of the current situation. Democracies are fragile and they can fall apart quickly so I do hope we can reverse the current course before it is too late.

Extremism is extremism. It doesn't matter which side you're on. The challenge is that this current violence is coming from the right and has dire consequences for the long term security of America as well as setting a precedent for similar factions in the UK and Europe.

I suppose there is a “we will not be intimidated by terrorists” aspect to it still being held but the risk/reward seems dubious to me.
