The active duty ones that you’ll see over the next week certainly are. They go to boot camp, train and have access to weaponry just the same as the traditional army.I think my biggest concern/question was are they well trained in combat??
Because, again, the dudes coming to protest look well trained.

Yo toast how are you doing today mate you still working.I think my biggest concern/question was are they well trained in combat??

The simple answer is no. The more complex answer unfortunately, is there are scenarios that are not especially far fetched where they could get nowhere there still lots of people end up getting killed. I’ll just say I’m extremely glad that, as of now, my buddy isn’t getting sent up there next week.1 more question.
These idiots won't get far on the 20th, will they?

I’m not sure what the remedy for this could be. We’ve obviously never had an issue like this, so I’d never considered it, but the video that someone posted on here yesterday where the Sri Lankan guy described that waiting period as a “built in coup” is spot on if all participants aren’t committed to a peaceful transition of power. However, you also hear people who have worked on these transitions talk about how even 70ish days is precious little time to set up a whole new government. That’s why there was so much gnashing of teeth when that woman wouldn’t recognize Biden as President-elect and cost his team close to two badly needed weeks to get things going.Impeaching him and removing him is clearly good but it is also not going to be enough to even come close to rescuing this democracy long term. We've just had a coup and thinking small changes will prevent the party doing the coup from trying again is lunacy.
That means all of the GOP members who were on board with this have to be removed from Congress. That means all of the members of state governments who supported this crap need to be removed from those governments. And crucially it means that massive constitutional changes have to be made to fix the gaping holes in the system. The electoral college must go. The two month gap between the election and the inauguration has to go too. Democracy in America is on life support and isn't going to be fixed by a small measures.
But we could inaugurate Biden the day after the election is official and do all the formal stuff after right? So take the power from the loser immediately but have all the department heads help out for the two months or so anyway. If they don't want to that's bad but less bad then them not wanting to and wielding power.I’m not sure what the remedy for this could be.
