As soon as he isn't President

Right now he's protected under Twitter rules due to him being an elected official. As soon as he is no longer one of those he can be banned, and I'm almost certain he will be

Crikey.

It is a good job Twitter wasn’t around in the 1930s.

A certain elected official in Der Fatherland would have had a gazillion followers worldwide, nodding their heads in agreement at his Messianic rantings :)

It actually already has. Until 1937, the inauguration didn’t place place until early March. I don’t know that much shorter of a lame-duck period than we currently have is very practical. The process of fully certifying the results and having the electoral college vote takes over a month. This happens every election, but it’s never been out in the open like this because we’ve never had someone calling the entire election a fraud.

Was there any specific incident or event which brought that change about, TN?

I am thinking the winds of war would have beem starting to blow in Europe in ‘37 and the US wanted as short a transition as possible after the 1940 election?

Not really. The Amendment was actually passed in 1935, basically in response to the fact that the world had simply begun to move at a faster pace. When the Constitution was originally written, several months were actually needed to count all the votes and for everyone to travel to DC on horseback to begin to work of governing. By the early 1900’s this was no longer the case, so they shortened the time between election and inauguration.

he can try but he will fail. fox news is way stronger then he thinks.
ooh, I don't know. I don't think Lachlan Murdoch is as conservative as his dad.
Fox is already losing buckets of viewers to OAN and other right wing outlets.
Demographics are changing. Will gen x be as easy to hook as boomers?

I actually don't think it would take much at all for Trump to convince Hannity, Carlson and Inghram to join a few other non fox right wing celebs on a new network. The advertisers would certainly back it.

This is what worries me. The local football message board has a similar area to this, and it is overwhelmingly conservative. For years most of the content linked in there was Fox News. Recently there has been a dramatic shift away from that and most stuff is now OAN or Newsmax. I don’t think Fox News is the immovable object that some people see it as.

I generally don't have an answer how do you combat people who think that right-wing conspiracy theories aren't right-wing enough?
It’s pretty disturbing to actually talk to some of these people. I suppose it’s not a particularly problematic thing if you buy into a conspiracy theory here or there, but when you get to the point where you have a large percentage of a population believing multiple national or global conspiracies, you’re dealing with a significant segment of society who actually live in a headspace that is entirely divorced from reality. Then, when you add in the fact that social media gives voice to, and helps proliferate these ideas, it’s become almost like the army ant death spiral. I have yet to read anything that seems to be a good blueprint for how to break the cycle either.

I've been thinking about this a lot.

Trump did a lot of harm to our country, to the world.

He delegitimized accredited media. So anything that is reported against him can be assumed to be a lie or fake news. Other people will surely follow.

He delegitimized scientists and doctors. Making claims that doctors get paid for saying a dead person died from covid.

He now delegitimized our democracy. Paving the way from now on for any party who loses to simply reject the results and try a coup.

If he goes to jail, he will claim it was a fraud by the left to harm him. He will delegitimize the judicial system as well.

All in all, he has injected a massive amount of credibility to baseless conspiracies. Add to that the quick spread of misinformation through social media outlets and you will have a population who will believe a random guy on FB over a credited news media outlet, doctors, scientists, scholars.

The damage is donde both to our society and for things to come in the future.

You don't. There is no way to convince someone who believes in Flat Earth theory or that the planet is 6,000 years old or the Democrats eat babies they don't kill in the womb or that tax cuts for the wealthy trickle down to the poorest people in the country these ideas are complete bullshit. A couple of wonderful neighbors who are veterans had "NO SOCIALISM" signs in their yards. So when I logically asked if they received their medical care thru the local VA hospital, they were ready with a reply.

They earned it (their socialism). *sigh*

As I see it, you focus on doing a better job of succinctly articulating ideas that are already accepted by the general public (better/modern policing v DEFUND) and focus on improving the lives of families that earn $30K-$100K/year. It's something the Democratic Party does well when charismatic people like Bill Clinton or Barack Obama are at the top of the ticket but it needs to be done well at all times because those politicians are once in a generation, at best.

Defund the Police will almost certainly go down in history as one of the most catastrophic failures of branding in history. Alas, “Let’s take a deep dive on how funds are allocated and see if maybe the police are being asked to do too much because maybe other organizations can perform those roles more effectively” doesn’t fit too neatly on a sign at a protest.
