He is sacking loads of people at the Pentagon????

Shizz getting real
The ones that he is not sacking are resigning. All this shake up during a presidential transition can be very destabilizing to our nation. TBF I fear that for the next 70 days Trump is going to be more unhinged that he has ever been before. Republicans are so afraid to stand up to him right now because they fear that his supporters won't turn up to vote in Georgia. so screw the nation, their lust for power is more important than standing up for what's right.

Here here. And if you think they are afraid to stand up to Trump they will have Biden as a much better alloy in their pockets to play with. Scary times

Is there no provision for this type of situation contained within the US Constitution?

Did the Founding Fathers not consider some unhinged fruitcake refusing to accept that he has beaten in an election?

Given the fact that Trump or some future megalomaniacal fantasist can do untold damage to both the USA and the entire world during the almost three month transitional period, does that gap between Election and Inauguration need to be drastically reduced?

I doubt anyone could have factored in this utter donkey being president into their calibrations. Or maybe they did and it went like this:

Franklin: Maybe we should include a provision in case the presidency gets won by a reality TV show host whose only motivation is escaping his creditors and will claim victory against all evidence of the contrary and barricade himself in to the White House?

Madison: Oh Benjamin, what an imagination you have. Seriously though, American people would never be stupid enough to elect a man like that in the first place, so it's a non-starter.

As a Brit and with how our government has behaved over the past 10 years I should really keep my mouth shut but... It doesn't look good as a major influence on the world. How can democracy be promoted and encouraging growing nations to undertake free elections when one of the most powerful leaders in the world behaves this way.
Because this isn't "democracy". This is someone who is an autocrat and fascist that almost half the country supports. It's.....a bit terrifying to be honest..

That's what is really odd to me. You see the light at the end of the tunnel. Why are you quitting JUST BEFORE the new President is brought in??? That's literally what Trump wants!

It actually already has. Until 1937, the inauguration didn’t place place until early March. I don’t know that much shorter of a lame-duck period than we currently have is very practical. The process of fully certifying the results and having the electoral college vote takes over a month. This happens every election, but it’s never been out in the open like this because we’ve never had someone calling the entire election a fraud.
