he's not my president, if you read the Mueller report, it's clear that there was outside interference to get him elected. So he cheated to win the election and with the exception of a bipartisan congressional push on updating NAFTA and the continuation of Obamas criminal justice reform, he's done absolutely nothing for America. He will go down in history as the worst president ever and those who support him will quickly come up with excuses like "he was a means to an end" or "i never actually supported the man but we needed a change".
The only reason Trump was anywhere near the White House is that Obama had left the country in a mostly good place where people could afford to be complacent and do something dumb like vote for Trump.

But the main one is that white middle class suburban men who grumble about the amount of latinos in baseball these days while grilling next to their shiny F-150s that have never been used properly, were intimidated by an educated man of color and saw Trump as the perfect vehicle to rebuild their battered masculinity.
There's not a woman in America who could have run against Trump and beaten him with the amount of bruised white male egos whose opinions were being constantly validated by an army of Russian bots in a warehouse in St.Petersberg.
Hillary was a far better choice in 2016 and as this clown car of a presidency trundles on, she becomes more and more vindicated.

While you are obviously essentially right, you are leaving out the lower class, uneducated white voters in that equation, who were a massive part of Trump's win.
I don't think the answer is to dismiss them out of hand as idiots. If you look under the surface, there's a massive "left behind" generation of poor white people in the US who don't recognise "privilege", yet are told constantly they have it. The Democrats/liberals in general tend to dismiss them entirely and it results in alienation, looking for answers elsewhere, which Trump exploited.
I'd love to see the left in the US and the UK be able to explain to these communities that they understand and their goal is to elevate all disadvantaged people, not just media friendly groups of them. For example, in the UK, you had Labour on one hand saying they're the voice of the poor, but Labour simultaneously laughing at those same people who voted for Brexit, completely not understanding the socio-economic link between the two.
So yes, "bruised white male egos" is definitely a thing - but you achieve nothing if you don't address what bruised those egos in the first place.
