Current Affairs Donald Trump POS: Judgement cometh and that right soon

Andrew Neil is an equal opportunity enemy of waffle and spin, he can spot and pin down anybody not on top of their brief in seconds. It's a source of confusion to me that politicians don't simply put as much effort into researching their area of responsibility as he does instead of ducking him.
A good reason the current PM ran like the coward he is from doing an interview with Neil during an election. A PM candidate running away from interviews!

It also shows which candidates, however awful, had the better advisors in this instance. Neil had already destroyed two party leaders without breaking sweat. If you cannot master your brief then facing him plays far worse than hiding.

It helps if you have 90 percent of the media in your pocket, any other candidate who pulled that cynical slimey stunt would have be quite rightly castigated for it. It also speaks volumes for the candidate that the best advert for his candidacy is to hide and stay silent

so it was a good thing the candidate and future PM procrastinated about going on Andrew Neil in another interview but then completely refused to do so ? Rather than ‘mastering his brief ‘ or having policies that stand up to questioning its better to run and hide ?

For me Johnson is pathetic a horrible , despicable liar little more at times than a man child at other times the worst kinds of dog whistling racist on yet other occasions his character summed up by plotting to actually assist in assaulting journalists but yet he’s proven untouchable. I’m not sure what the answer is , Johnson did get interviewed by Neil in the leadership contest and despite being savaged and Ill prepared it made not a jot of difference and neither did him not going On to Neil before the general Or even hiding in a fridge to avoid questions . I’m not sure anything matters any more to be fair these days , it’s all a bit depressing .

It does, but it never ceases to amaze me that people think because of how he monstered Corbyn in 2019 (though he did less well in 2017) that someone like Neil, with who he has worked for, what he has on his record and what he believes would have ever shredded Johnson.

Johnson not going on there was of benefit to him and Neil. Look how much his rep has been talked up because of the non-appearance.

Of course it wasn't great that the PM ducked the interview, but why did others submit themselves for slaughter without a cast-iron guarantee that all likely candidates would get grilled too. My ire was aimed at the party machines who allowed such a disparity.

From memory the sod hid in the fridge in my constituency too.

Today's press briefing has been moved to the Rose Garden with CNN reporting that the primary reason for this is that the WH can control the audio better.

In the press room, each reporter has a mic. which mutually pick up most other reporters whereas outside they will bring microphones over to each reporter.

If we have reporters asking difficult questions today, I suspect they'll be quite quickly muted, which just goes to show how much of a ______ house he is!

Not a great fan of him tbh, but watching him clobber Ben Shapiro into paste on live TV was one of the best things I've ever seen. Shapiro's meltdown was so quick and brutal, he basically did a real life leaving thread to get away from it
It was up there with the Warren on Bloomberg violence.

Eddie Mair interviewing Trump would be the greatest show on earth. Doubt trump would last 2 minutes before walking out.
Or J O’B for that matter.

he absolutely is; in fact I'd say he is the most image-conscious British politician of the age

people calling him "Boris" being an especially good example of that
To say that he avoided Neil out of anything other than the knowledge he simply couldn’t handle the scrutiny (again) is just wrong tbh

Why is it wrong? Johnson has done loads of interviews, including with Neil, and has handled a lot of the scrutiny thanks to the persona he has created and him being an associate / friend / colleague of loads of the interviewers.

As an example, do you think Neil would have called him Boris or Alex if the interview had taken place?

TBF Charles Laughton would have done a fantastic Trump.
