Fair enough if that’s how you feel. My point will be that it really appeals to the Dems existing base, but for those more on the fence it’s probably a bad look. I think most of the undecided folks just want an adult in charge and that’s not how that action is going to be perceived.

If there are truly any undecided folks out there and they believe the bigger adult is Trump considering his actions over the last 5 years including the run up to the 2016 election over Pelosi subtly ripping up paper without saying word, then I doubt they were ever truly on the fence

See it's comments like this that drive true fiscal conservatives batty. And as an accountant, makes me go crazy.

Republicans and I"d imagine the tories continually beat the drum of fiscal conservatism, when in fact all they do is provide tax cuts for the rich without doing anything to the expenditure portion, so in effect, driving up the debt.

At least left of center parties try to balance spending with cash inflows (taxes).

Fiscal conservatism doesn't mean balancing budgets any more. It just means tax cuts.

And someone has to pay the piper on that at some point.

Another thing that’s aggravating with his blatant pandering is how he uses the military to score political points. Acknowledge a couple veterans, let an active duty guy come out and surprise his wife, and suddenly Trump supporters just start shouting down anyone who doesn’t laud the speech as the greatest ever like this...

You obviously didn't actually watch it or your so unamerican it's sad. And kinda scary.

Don’t get me wrong, that was a fantastic moment for that one guy and his family. However, it might be important to remember that Trump’s petty, reckless behavior is putting tens of thousands of other guys just like him at risk every day.

Trickle down economics, guns being the only way to stop yourself from being attacked by violent criminals, the poor burdening the system and making it not viable, government healthcare will limit your choices and so on are all narratives that are purely false and created by interests who wanted to squeeze every dollar possible out of the population. But these things are so ingrained that telling someone it is wrong is as hard as convincing them the sky isn't blue. It's been pumped in for so long that it is essentially a core belief in something that is blatantly untrue.

Is it a deciding factor? No. Is it a negative from an optics standpoint? I’d say yes.

Let’s consider that Gary Freaking Johnson got 11% of the vote last time. That’s the voter population the dems should be going after. Protest votes or not, it’s the dems job to convince them this time around. I don’t think they’re off to a good start.
