The guy at the head of the federal government department charged with addressing child sex traffic is today resigning due to his "handling" of a case against a man implicated in decades of child sex traffic.

That's pretty darn swampy.
The sad part is a lot of his base still believe he is draining the swamp despite the fact that its him hiring and then subsequently firing these people

yea, was listening to a farmer bemoan the fact that his crop sales are way down due to tarriffs and he's having trouble finding labor for what he can sell because of Trumps crackdown on immigration but then he says he's happy with Trumps farming policies. He spent 10 mins moaning and then concluded that he himself was wrong. It's nuts.

It is nuts. And that post could have appeared in our Brexit/EU thread. With a few name changes.

Wow that is cringe worthy.

First let me say I feel awful for what is going on with undocumented people, especially the kids. It's really horrendous and we've got to do better. Especially by the kids. I hate reading the stuff I read.

Now that lawyer... I've read the transcript that's the first time I saw the video. I don't know her, haven't researched how she got her job. I don't know if she actually believes what she is saying and I think the rest of my post will explain why.

I have a degree in political science/pre-law. I took a couple classes where you basically do what she was doing. They'll stick you with a case that is so one sided and put you on the wrong side to defend it.

From watching that video, I don't think she is inept but she maybe. As soon as she said "I think"... and that's what the agencies determine she lost any validity. It's really law 101 stuff she failed on. I hated doing verbal arguments, but I was always told by lawyers I did a great job at them. When she went "I think", and it really is a tough position she is forced to defend, she lost the case. It was really bad how she did it just from a law perspective.

However, if she threw the case I wouldn't blame her. She can always quit her job. Idk how you would make an argument for what she was.

Again, I feel so bad for the kids. I'm just noticing what she had to argue for and knowing nothing beyond what it is, I actually felt bad for her. I used to watch kids in college get grilled like she is and it's never comfortable to watch if you get the job.

As soon as she said "I think" she would have been getting berated with question from my professors. It really is cringey if any of you have been in that position.

Luckily I learned in the 3rd grade you don't say I think, you just say it. And I've also never had to defend this administration's horrible policy regarding undocumented immigrants.

Wouldn’t be entirely surprised if Ross is added to the list soon given both his financial disclosure issues and lies during the census case (although it is probably his incompetence that will annoy Trump rather than the corruption).

I once worked for a company with a high staff turnover rate. At the beginning of my employment I never took much notice to it.

But anyone who's ever worked in HR or worked in staff recruitment will tell you that it's a red flag.

I later found out that it all had to do with the CEO... Ie the big cheese.
Stop me if you've heard this all before:
- He has huge temper tantrums in staff meetings, curses and belittles the staff when things aren't going to plan.
- He never took any responsibly for any of the companies shortfalls or stuff ups. It was ALWAYS someone else's fault.
- I never ever heard him give credit to anyone when they did a good job, and when someone did a good job, who do you think was claiming the credit in the board of director's meetings?
- Arrogant, condescending and an adult bully are some of the words I've heard when other staff were describing him. I know he was the CEO, but you still have to have a basic level of human decency when interacting with other humans. His attitude was like: I'm entitled to treat my employees this way because I'm the big boss.
- I wouldn't go as far as to say the man was delusional, but he clearly had an inflated ego, and I couldn't say for sure, but I was about 90% certain that he had had a face-lift or 2.

Ummmmm... Who does that remind you of? And you can't blame people for not wanting to work for an utter holocaust of a human being! I even remember one of the employees, after she had a torrid time at the company, she decided no more. After she had just finished writing her resignation letter, I'll never forget her words: 'I'm going to take this letter and ram it up his fat arse!'

Hopefully after seeing (and smelling) the conditions first hand Pence does something to improve them.
MCALLEN, Tex. — When Vice President Pence visited a migrant detention center here Friday, he saw nearly 400 men crammed behind caged fences with not enough room for them all to lie down on the concrete ground. There were no mats or pillows for those who found the space to rest. A stench from body odor hung stale in the air.
When reporters toured the facility before Pence, the men screamed that they’d been held there 40 days, some longer. They said they were hungry and wanted to brush their teeth. It was sweltering hot, but the only water was outside the fences and they needed to ask permission from the Border Patrol agents to drink.
Pence appeared to scrunch his nose when entering the facility, stayed for a moment and left. A few minutes earlier, from a bird’s eye room called “The Bubble,” he’d seen 382 men packed into cells, peering against the windows to get a view of him. Some appeared shirtless.
