Read the link - it's a quote.
yea, in fairness, I missed the link as I presumed it was just a link to the embedded video rather than a critique of that video.
I've read it now tho and it seems to be implying that Trump played the female members of congress?
That said, I could be missing the point as it just seemed to be a blog post obsessing over AOC.

Why don't you give us your opinion on the video, or even the blog post.
Do you think Trump played the female members of congress?

Why don't you give answering it a shot?
He's building a portfolio for his 2020 campaign.

Remember this every time he does something that makes you want to scream. He's not looking for your personal vote if you hate him already. He's looking to win a majority of electoral votes. If you're in the majority, he's playing right into your hands. The rhetorical kill shot on socialism and the USA chant was as divisive as anything he's done. Both sides are standing and making loud noises over that today. Trump genuinely thinks he's got a majority of voters, it seems. He's not hedging his bets on that. He's setting up a repeat of 1972 while wrapping himself in the flag and bringing the boys home. Sorry if that was too boomer, but he's a boomer and I bet that what he sees. As always, I could be wrong.

We'll see come the election. A week is a long time in politics, and these times are not quite like the past. What the Democrats could use is a well timed economic crisis... Maybe an impeachable offense. We'll see. They could find something that sticks. It's not beyond the realm of possibility.

Still, it's hard to look at the man. He really is repulsive. That hair. I avoid it, but last night was an exception. That was theatre.

Thanks for the reply, and for the most part, I agree.
Yea, it was theatre, but it was closer to pantomime than Shakespeare.
How does anyone who loves this country tolerate this?

Panto is a populist diversion, not high art. Aim low enough, and you'll become a cultural icon.

Children are being bullied because they are named Trump. Nixon would have done that, if he'd thought of it.

Honestly if their plan for 2020 is "hope for an economic crisis / that he gets impeached / that something sticks" (and you are probably right to suggest that it might be) then they deserve the beating that will follow.

Trump has to be taken down with actual policies that will benefit people, and especially the people who voted for him in 2016. Some decent work on healthcare would not go amiss.

He genuinely does not have a majority of voters. I'm not saying he won't win in 2020 but I'm fairly certain he will lose the popular vote again.

I must be in the minority, but I thought the SOTU speech wasn't too bad.

Obviously some stuff to work on for example the talk about El Paso being safer after the wall built etc. I understand he was told this by the AG, however if your going to repeat it, do some background checking yourself.

Liked some of the references to people in regards to legislation he'd like to pass. Being the young girl who had brain cancer as well as the people being released from prison for minor offences.

Be interesting going forward if both parties still can come together and sort out the immigration issue which is a dominant factor for both parties.

Well god knows they don't have to look far

His handlers are building a portfolio

I don't think Trump has the political nous to build support for repaving the parking lot at a country club, let alone put votes together for a national election.

Counterpoint: If people weren't smart enough to see through Trump the first time around, and if enough people want to "own the Libs" to vote for a guy like Trump, then what makes any of us think that "actual policies that will benefit people" will get people to vote for whoever runs against Trump this time around?

I mean, we can all debate the likability of Hillary, her emails and Benghazi until we're blue in the face, but the fact remains she had a lot more in the way of "policies that will benefit people" and not enough people cared. Well, at least in the flyover states anyway

We are so broken, it's almost beyond fixable

Republican or republican leaning voters are about 40% of the US electorate, give or take, he still polls well with them, around mid 80% I think so he will be guaranteed about 35% of votes in the next election. Electoral collage or not that's not enough and it's hard to see where he picks up enough swing voters unless the Dems completely screw up the next two years.

He could well be primaried (sp?) if things keep going the way they are.
That dire SOTU and the subsequent 'investigation' tweets suggest he's well aware that a whole lot is about to come out in the wash.
A moderate republican running on the strength of the economy could do quite well, especially if the Dems run a progressive candidate.
I don't care, I'll still vote for the progressive.
